Took a photo of our ticket in case it was taken away and we needed proof!
Last night the lovely people at Palmview resort were so pleased to announce that they now had red and white wine. Unfortunately it was undrinkable. On a par with that found in Luang Praang last year. Also the tempura vegetables Sam had been looking forward to were a complete disappointmen, being infiltrated inexplicably with chicken nuggets, so we decided eating elsewhere was sensible. Armed with our torches for coming back we went to find a minimarket to stock up on snacks and water and went back to the lovely pizza restaurant. Pizza, 2 nights in a row, my son-in-law Jon would be most impressed! We walked back in the dark along the path through the palms, such a great shortcut, a bit spooky when you hear a scooter coming. Got back to the room and we had forgotten the shopping. Back we went to get it. Sigh!

This morning we had breakfast and waited for the minibus with a few others it came on time, the guy wasn't very cheerful, but we were first on so could choose our seats and no problem fitting our bags in. We picked up more people in the village, some going to Ao Nang.

Minibus depot in Krabi. Go up to the turquoise desk and tell the lady where you want to go. The staff all have green polo shirts on
Phew! Safety in numbers! Also picked up a little Thai grandma who sat in the front. We arrived alive but the driver was DREADFUL, overtaking on bends and hills, driving right up behind people and was constantly in his phone. He must have taken and made more than 20 calls in the 3 hours. No point saying anything and being dumped at the side of the road. We put our seatbelts on tight and prayed for at least his phone to run out of juice. They all seem to be the same, no seatbelts, crazy! None of the Thai passengers seem to be phased. We stopped in Takuapa and then in Phangnga, 10mins, time for a loo break. We could have done the journey on 3 local buses, it would have taken a lot longer but been less stressful. The minibuses are convenient but leave a lot to be desired! It would have been worth shopping around in Khao Sok, we saw the same trip for 350b and we paid 450 at our resort. The advantage is that if there is a problem and ou buy the ticket where you stay, they will sort it out for you.

Tables set for Valentine's dinner
were a bit worried about changing minibus in Krabi as Sam had been badly scammed there 2 years ago and asked to pay again to get to Ao Nang. She didn't but had to go and find the local us. The woman was very aggressive. We had a ticket which said all the way but weren't sure if we would get dropped at our hotel. Needn't have worried. The depot was very well organised, super clean loos, the local airport bus pulled in and we were taken to all our hotels, no extra payment. And we were SO EXCITED to be back at the same hotel we left 5 days ago, same room, air con, lovely! You'd have thought we were coming back after a year away.

Unpacked, off to the beach in 30 mins. Skills! Smart resorts along the front were trying to schlepp people to sign up for Valentine's night dinners, decorations everywhere. Out for drinks with our new buddies we met here the last time, then home on a disco tuktuk!

Night.

Thank you
Hi Rachel. Thank u so much for all the blogs. So they do Valentine's big time there by the looks if it, mainly for the tourists I guess. Sounds very intrepid, with your crabbing/canoeing etc. Guess you didn't snorkel yourselves? Liked the pink mosquito net! Looks lovely out there on those island, though everyone is after your money. Tough time for me at the moment, with the family situation. Always good to hear of your adventures and see the photos. Really lifts the spirits. Off to London Friday, and that will too. Thanks again, and enjoy...Love and thoughts. Xx
