This was a bachelor trip to Krabi in 2010. Krabi offers one of the most relaxing spots for off peak seasons around May-June. Hotels were extremely cheap, food prices were decent, two students with no more than 500USD between the both of us, a 6 days trip filled with boat rides, island hops, bar visits etc and 3 different hotels definitely proved to be a great combination! We stayed at Ao Nang beach, rented a scooter at USD7 per day, wore funny helmets and picked up local ladies as we go. It was a great trip and I definitely am counting the days to a second visit!... read more

Hiya! After Phi Phi we went back to Krabi but this time we stayed by the beach in Ao Nang. We stayed in a hotel called Bens House and for some reason we were upgraded to a huge room it was soo nice so we decided to spend the rest of the time we had left in Thailand there. The first night we got there was St Paddy's Day so we went searching for an irish pub and we found The Irish Rover who were giving out free shots every 15 mins :-). We met a girl who is also a backpacker called Anneka and her mum Wanda from Coventry who had come to Thailand to meet up with her, they were both crazy and they ended up buying us drinks, Michael also ended up dancing ... read more

. . . RACHEL HAS A TAN! We returned to Koh Phi Phi to have a relax on the beach as we never got to do it 1st time round- unfortunately the weather was some what unpredictable and one evening we got caught in heavy heavy rain!!! After our relax we were ready to be a bit busy again and headed to Krabi staying in Ao Nang, it was so holiday like here with lots of fancy restaurants along the beach front (we didn't really eat in those). While we were here we went on an island, snorkelling tour. We got to visit 9 of the small islands around Ao Nang and Krabi, snorkelling and swimming in the sea. We were on a long tail boat all day and we both got absolutely burnt to a ... read more

Be warned, this is a bit of a moany blog! Myself and Vinny left Phi Phi on the evening ferry to Krabi, where we got a taxi to Ao Nang, a beachside resort town nearby. The main reason we were here was to visit the beaches of Railay so the next morning, we got a longtail boat to Railay Beach West, the closest of them. We were surprised by how expensive it was, over $12 for the two of us, as the beach was only minutes away (and there was a load of us on the boat). The scenery on the boat was great though and the water was so clear, I couldn’t wait to go snorkelling! When we got to the beach, it was fairly busy. We found a spot and spent the day there, ... read more

Framme! Kram från oss... read more

Hello people back home! We're coming to the end of our few weeks in Thailand now with plenty of things to catch you up on, so here goes.... Having enjoyed a flying visit to Singapore, we landed in Krabi and headed straight to Ao Nang where we met up with Sparky to begin our Asian adventure. We only spent an evening here so we could make it to Koh Phangnan in time for a half moon party. It was just enough time to get our heads round the currency and demolish what would become our first of many pad thais. As would be expected, the 1/2 moon was great fun and involved an awful lot of UV paint, fire displays and dancing in the jungle. Koh Samui was our next stop- the weather was pretty horrendous ... read more

Hello everyone!!!!! Thought i'd get this blog back up and running as we have put the backpacks on again (well at least me. Sarah bailed out and took a wheelie bag!) Anyway we left from Melbourne on the 29th of May after a slightly delayed flight and all going well, an agitated Sarah had to make an emergency visit to the lavatory after travel sickness set in. Better in than out i say! hahaha All smooth sailing for there and 10 hours later about 3am Melbourne time we were sitting in an outside bar having a Singha!! It was a whirlwind couple of days in Bangkok and Phuket visiting a few sites and riding tuk tuk's around. We also meet up with Rohan and Tatum in Phuket for the rest of our Thailand stay and found ... read more

We settled into our little earthy bungalow at Noppharratara easily with our now altered plans and giants new habit of humming the call to prayer falling into the mellow groove of Noppharratara and Ao Nang. Our days were spent waiting for the weather to be nice enough to let us go out for a dive which didnt look likely for the first few days so we decided to be tourists and check out some of the places I used to go to all those years ago. Getting out to the hotsprings and the emerald pool 27 years ago was a full day and night trip with lots of alcohol and a jeep songtaew, this time we booked a private taxi with the ultra cool Chan as our driver and visiting both took half a day. Both ... read more

27 years ago, I spent 7 months being a hippy living in a hut on Ao Nang beach with no shoes, no camera and no money, which wasnt really a problem then because my hut cost me 10cents a week. I had a lot of trepidation about returning to Railay and Ao Nang after such a long time because while I had no camera, I had a photo album burned into my brain and I had a few reservations about finding my little patch of paradise turned into a tourist mecca. I ummed and erred a lot about including Krabi in this trip but Giant had asked if one day I would take him to see "my rocks''. My plans were to spend 5 days in Krabi before heading back to KL then off to Kota ... read more

March 21st 2011

I was feeling a bit ropey this morning. The combination of a swollen foot and a chesty cough from sleeping in air conditioned rooms had left me feeling rather crap, even after the most comfortable nights sleep I'd had in ages.  I decided there was nothing for it but to have a workout on the TRX to lift my spirits and get my body going. On my trip to the seven eleven last night I'd bought some vitamin enriched juice drinks that I gulped down as I sweated in my room. I needed to organise my travel to Bangkok today so as I wondered down the road to the beach I stopped at a travel agents. I has wanted to go on the sleeper train but as that was full I opted for the overnight coach. ... read more
