Paris to London

OMG, so our last night kind of sucked. I had no idea I was making Jenn feel small and stupid. I read travel books, I do my homework, I like having random facts about places I am going to, but I guess I was making Jenn not feel like the traveler she really is. It sucked, I could hear them, on the street, talking about me. Made me feel like shit, that 2 of my closest friends would do that. Jenn has traveled as much as me, if not more so, and if anything its Kelley who should have been feeling small and stupid. I mean come on, Jenn and I would get into conversations about the art and architecture and Kelley - you could tell - didn't understand or follow most of the conversation. Oh well. We talked about it, and worked things out. But it still stung.

So we had a funny morning. I guess Daylight savings hit on Sunday. Well that explains why we thought the clocks were wrong. Anyway we had to be up to catch the train to Waterloo Station in London, England. So when we got up thinking we were right on time, if not a little late, we really had an extra hour! At least time didn't jump foward or we would have missed our train! Anyway we decided to have the front desk guy drive us to the metro station this time, no off roading with our luggage, that really sucked! He dropped us off, with plenty of time in front of Gare du Nord. Charged us 20 euros, a little much for the short distance, but who cares, it was so much easier, and he did speak English! Kelley and I were in the back seat. She kept closing her eyes in terror - she really is a big wuss - but it was so funny. We were talking about doing a walking ghost tour since it was Halloween, needless to say we didn't do it. Turned out halloween was not a big holiday in London, but the hostel was having a party and we decided to go. They wouldn't let us check in until 2pm, so we left our luggage and went down the way to an Italian restaurant. They had the BEST gnocchi's, which had artichoke hearts in with them in a cream tomatoe sauce. We headed back after food, and it took over an hour to check-in! Our reservation was screwed up, well lost, then when they found it, there were only 2 of us, not all 3, it majorly sucked. Eventually they talked to someone at STA travel and we got all situated and put into a 4 person private room on the fourth floor, room 440. We dragged our stuff out of the room, and into the lift to go to our room. We were already getting tired but decided to take one of the employees advice and hit Camden Town to do a little shopping for the party that night. Costumes were nearly impossible to find. I ended up buying a little black dress that would make a great fallen angel costume, some devil horns and red fishnets. The whole area really reminded me of Venice beach. There was pot every where, tattoo places, piercing parlors... It was definatly a trip. We decided then and there to go back at least once. Finally around 6p we headed back to the hostel to take a nap and eat before the party. We ended up falling asleep for about 5 hours, and none of us really wanted to get up, but we did buy the clothes so we got up, and dragged our sorry asses downstairs. I only lasted an hour, I forgot how annoying smoking inside was! Not to mention some tiny little french guy wouldn't stop talking to me.

I love you
Yes I felt small and stupid but not as stupid as I felt drunk on the street in my PJ's hurting you... I had the time of my life and there really is no better tour guide than you regardless of how many times I've been there :)
