Officially Rongolian

Well folks I finally made it to Rongo's backpackers. And it wasnt easy. The town of about maybe 400 is at the end of the western coastal highway. What a sweet drive. So I took a bus from Franz Joseph to Westport then hitchhiked the 98km to Karamea. Man it was shit. Walked for 2 hours with all my gear in the sun. I for sure thought I would be camping out in a ditch for the night. But somebody picked me up. Sweet. Got dropped of right at the hostel. So there are just 4 wwoofers staying here and until today there were no guests. Now we got 2 German guys. But bonfire on tongiht. And mad BBQ. So As far as I'm concerned this is the new highlight of my trip. This place is so cool. The building is an oldschool hospital ( i think I"m sleepiung in the delivery room) and it is crazy. It is also an art gallery so pieces of art (sculptures, carvings, paintings, etc) are scattered all over the walls inside. There is a giant barricuda made from paper mashe and covered in tinfoil. So sweet. The outside is painted like a rainbow and the inside is full of murals and what not. REally sweet. but The best thing is the radio station out back. It has a range of 50km radius. Not much but tits sweet. We have been busting live to air broasdcasts. And I usually keep a good playlist goijng through the day. As fo r work its been sweet. Sprucing up the garden then we tore down the chicken shed. For those of u who think catching chickens is easy >>>>F#$k U! the rooster is the bigest bitch he bit me and ran through my legs. so a couiple are still on the loose. We'll get em. I'm staying with Henry (Cali), Moa(Swenden) and Andy (Germany). Real cool group. But so chill here. I'm bunked iun the rasta room but will move into my own room on Sunday. But check out the pics.

Heh Sean, You gave me a good laugh when you talked about the chickens and especially the roosters. They are smarter than you think. Reminded me of the time on the farm that Than and I were chasing and teasing the "Mad rooster". It would start to chase us. Trouble was, we were older and could run faster. Poor Shelby, being 3, couldn't run fast enough and the rooster pecked her several times behind the ear. She has the scars to this day. Boy, did we get in sh........t from Dad. And the best part is we ate that Mad Rooster for supper. Funny that Shelby now has some chickens to raise. I guess she feels safe now that she is all growed up. Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun with the chickens and roosters. Mom

Hi Sean how is everything going? Glad you are getting settled what is the temp there? How long will you be staying inNZ? Blake has been going out driving not sure if I will have grey or white hair when you see me next. Actually he is doing very well, more defenive driving then I thought he would be. Brings back memories of when we started to driving. The one we couldn't catch i managed to grab with a giant trout net. Primo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
