Ahrweiler via Alf, Mosel to Vijlen Limburg Holland

This area is so beautiful that it takes a while to take it all in. The old city of Ahrweiler is ringed by walls and inside that you find all the old buildings. Most of them are now restaurants with terraces where all the tourists are sitting sipping on their glasses of beer and other drinks. We had been here before but it still is a nice place to visit. We enjoyed a ride in the local tourist train that goes along the Ahr to Bad Neuen Ahr. Just a few kilometres away. This is health place where people go to that have the warm bath and try to get better. Our next place was Alf a small place on the Mosel. We stayed at a B&B that had a nice room with a balcony that looked out onto the Mosel. The perfect place for a glass of Mosel wine while looking at the passing traffic. We visited some of the famous places that are close by. Our first choice was Bernkastle Kues that has a ruin high up the mountain. From there we had some magnificent views over the Mosel and mountains full of wine ranks filled with grapes that slowly ripened ready for the September, October picking. Down close to the Mosel you find Bernkastle. Slowly you can make your way through the small winding streets to see the shops and find a terrace where we had a drink. More walking and looking at shops we found a place where we had a meal. We had time to do a family visit. We went all the way to Neuenkirchen in Saarland. It was a nice reception and a small family reunion. Lots of food that had to be consumed before we went back to the city of Alf. Our last day in Alf we spend in Cochem. Again a small touristic place beautiful situated on the Mosel. Same story as Bernkastle, That many tourists you can hardly move around. We looked at the many shops and managed to have a drink and lunch. We took photos and video, not to forget shopping. We had a nice meal before returning to our B&B spending a beautiful day along this romantic river. Tomorrow we travel to Vijlen close to Vaals in Holland.
