Leaving Singapore
Thunderheads were amazing In Transit 2014-06-04to06 How lucky we are? The flights; from Joburg and from Singapore were less than half full; giving plenty of space to spread out and sleep. Not that we did much of that. I watched Winter’s Tale and enjoyed it, not my usual type of movie tho’. It’s a good thing we know our way around Changi Airport because the second flight boarding procedures started 5 minutes before we had even landed. Sadly there was no time to spend our voucher. Watch me in a month’s time. J It was Lourens’s 40
th birthday; Happy Birthday Lourens! He came to fetch us at the airport. I wanted to brave the public transport system; an adventure for us as we do not have it back home, but it was just as well as we were pretty bushed and jet-lagged. We were a tad too early on the drive home to experience Vivid Sydney, but there’s time enough for that.
Meeting the knee-hi’s required the usual warm up period with Kylan softening first; but by this evening after enthusiastic good night kisses from Marko we are almost ready to offer to mom and dad to babysit
Over the Indian Ocean
So vast ... no wonder they can't find the missing Malaysian airliner while they go out for the evening.
We used today to hit jetlag on the head and orientate ourselves here in Roseville and Chatswood and get online with our phones and internet and ipad etc. We did some shopping at Chatswood Chase for toorrow’s birthday picnic. I had forgotten again the strong sense of ethics and was amazed at kid’s bikes lying around in the yard overnight and even more so at a sign at one of the open areas stalls in the mall: “Back in 5 mins”. In the 10 minutes I was waiting for my menfolk to finish their shopping in Coles; 3 women came along selected their purchase (toys for tiny kids); looked up to find no one manning the stall; they returned their purchases to the places and went into Coles.
AND HOW SAD THAT I SHOULD FIND THAT AMAZING. L Some travel info: Vivid Sydney is an annual 18 day event; a major winter festival attracting 1000’s of visitors. This year it is from 23 May to 9 June. Shew! Just in time. It focuses on lighting up major and iconic landmarks all over the city. We’ll see some
on our way home from the pub tomorrow evening.
