Rowing across the Atlantic 2014

th 2014
We left early Sunday morning from Orlando drove to Winter Haven picked up Oma and Opa and headed to Ft Lauderdale.
We sang and talked all the way, to Ft Lauderdale, well Oma, Bea and Opa did. On the Road Again………..
Opa fell asleep slept for and hour or so and when he woke up asked are we there yet!
After 3 hours we made it to the port, unloaded said our good byes to Bea.
We got on the Da Boat, Oma was happy she checked in and walked the entire ship checking out everyone.
Kirsten and I walked around for an hour figuring out where everything was. Opa he found a seat on the Lido deck and let everyone parade in front of him.
The sail away party started at 4 PM on the Lido Deck, we all were up there watching our ship and the other 5 ships pull out..
Ok, I will try to be as brief on the next 14 days they pretty much were all the same.
Day
1 through 14
We woke up each morning.
Walked 9 laps around ship 3 miles.
Went to breakfast sometimes in the main dinning room, sometimes on the Lido Deck and sometimes both.
Read books, played cards.
I went to a daily seminar on BRICS, look it up on the Internet.
Had lunch on the Lido deck.
Spain History lesson seminar, believe it or not it was quite good.
Naptime!!!!!!
Did some drinking some where through out the day
Dinner at the main dinning room, some formal, some not so formal
Went to the show, went to the piano bar
First Stop
We had an emergency stop in the Bahamas, let off a sick, hurt person.
Should have been First Stop ended up being second, Horta had a beer at the famous pub & post office
Two more days at sea refer to previous page
Next stop, Gibraltar England. And I thought we were going to Spain.
From here we could see Africa; hum way to close to Libya for me. We
took the tour of the big rock. It was worth the money. Lot's of history to research. back to the ship by 5PM and had another sail away party.
Our next stop, Motril, Spain
We had tapas at multiple restaurants and walked through cathedrals viewing their floats they would use in their procession over easter week. The floats reminded me of the Ark of the Covent. I need to research this. Back to the ship by 4:30 another sail away party.
Next Alicante, Spain
Here we explored the city. Hedy has a friend whose daughter who lives here and she was able to get the schedule for the next procession. We found the route and watched a procession from a fabulous Tapas restaurant. Hedy was so excited. I'm beginning to believe Bill when he says she knows someone in every port. Kirsten had a great time also, i believe it was more about the tapas restaurant though.
The next stop was Palma on the island of Motra
Ok this cathedral was in the top 10 I have ever seen. It’s Moorish, Romanics
& Baraccoric.
We walked through the old town; Yes even Opa walked 6 miles that day. The highlight was I got separated after lunch and we finally came back together by the boat. In the mean time I get a call from Bea wanting to ask how everyone was doing. Well I don't know Bea, I lost them.
Ok, last night on the boat. I’m ready to see Spain. I asked Kirsten, how this retirement thing is working out for you.
She said let me get back to you on that…….
