After we got back home to Mara's we went to Venezia Italy. But sadly, Zaira and Mara were not able to come. When we got onto the train we took a bunch of selfies and made each other crack up. When we got to Venice we saw a lot of channels with boats. Next we ate at a restaurant. I ate pasta, like always, and it was delicious. After we had lunch, we saw Traghetto Sofia, of course we stopped by. Then we went to San Marcos square. We got ice cream and we looked at the amazing view of the water. In Venice, I bought a lot of a gifts for my friends. Greta and I both got Zaira something since she could not come. Then we took the train back to Mara's and had some nice pizza. The whole trip was amazing because I got to go back to my birthplace and other countries. I am glad I have now been to 60 countries because of Slovenia and Austria. My favorite thing on this trip: 1. Spending time with my brother in another country which I do not get to do often 2.. Seeing and playing with Zaira and Greta again and they looked very different
3. Skiing in Slovenia 4. Seeing Alessandro and his dog 5. I loved seeing Chiara and Speri and seeing my old barrel 6. Meeting new people 8. Castles and caves of Slovenia 9. Eating Prosciutto in San Danieli 10. Returning to my birthplace ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Daddy's Comments:
Sofia and Vitor wanted to go Venice on our only full day in the area, so we made it happen. Unfortunately, Mara and Zaira were not able to go due to prior religious commitment with Zaira. They both were bummed that they could not go. So it was Nicola, Sofia, Greta, Vitor and I and we headed to the train station in Pordenone. Unfortunately when we arrived, we found out the next train was more than 1 1/2 hours later. So we walked around Pordenone as it was Saturday and they had a big outdoor market. The train ended up being even more delayed. We finally boarded and actually had a lot of fun on the train.
After about 1 1/2 hours (this
train had a lot of stops) we arrived in Venice. I have always loved how the train station is right on the main canal. This was Sofia's 3rd time to Venice and probably Vitor's 4th or 5th, but not in about10 years. We walked all over, crossing all the smaller canals. Sofia wanted an Argentinian Messi jersey as the one we had bought for South Africa finally became to small. As Sofia was "running out of batteries" (she would tell me what percentage she had left), Nicola found a small snack place off the main roads and we had some great pasta.
With Sofia's batteries back up to 100% we headed to San Marcos Square....still without the pigeons that Vitor loved his first few times here, we settled for great gelato and taking in the sights. We decided not to go up the cathedral due to the long lines, and instead headed to the water where I love taking pictures with the Gondolas and Chiesa di San Giorgio Maggiore in the far background. SOfia bought a lot of little souvenirs for others, and then a very nice mask for Zaira since she could not come with us.
Then
a long way back to the train, and we made it with Sofia only on 6% of batteries left. One problem, no train for almost 2 hours to Pordenone, but one that left in 10 minutes ending in Sacile. Being that the 2 cities are only about 5 minutes away, we decided to take our chances and go to Sacile. However, we arrived in Sacile and there was no train until the the next one coming from Venice. No taxis in sight as well. SO we had a drink at the bar across the street and ended up arriving in Pordenone and then Grizzo much later than anticipated. While a great day in Venice, not a good day with trains.
A night of Pizza, wine and fun. We wished we could have had 1 more full day, which Nicola and Mara thought we had and actually had planned a bbq with all of our other friends, but it was not to be. We had to leave Sunday morning on a flight at noon. So we said our goodbyes, and said we would be back in 3 years and actually stay 3 consecutive nights. Hopefully at least Mara and Nicola
will visit us in Miami as they really want to see Janaina as well as it has been almost 10 years.
All 6 bags were under the 23 kg and no problems at the airport. While I was a bit nervous about what would occur in Miami with 6 suitcases of wine and the equivalent of 70 bottles, all was good. No breakage and despite declaring the wine, no one cared (or noticed) and went right through......
It was a great trip and Sofia and I were glad that Vitor came with us. Now less than 3 months to our next trip.......World Cup in Brasil!!!!!
