Beach Parking
Western Sahara, coast of the Atlantic.
Sidi Ifni rested quietly at the coast. The town had its own airport in the middle of the city. One day a week there is a big market on the runway. Close by the sea the menu was traditional Morrocan tajine with fish. And we had nice tajine served in the nearby hotel at a price of 45 DH, approx 4€. The cost of living is next to nothing for europeans. And the further south we have been, the cheaper. The people outside of the tourist areas are even more friendly. They help you with anything you ask. We try to use their services for all our needs, and in that way support the locals.
Our tour along the coast to Aglou past Milfest is a area where they collect honey, with the locals selling honey along the road. In Aglou we stayed 3 nights and on the last the night we planned to park at the beach. The police did not approve so we continued back to Riad Assllaf in Tiznit. There we celebrated another of Cathrines 39 birthdays.
Our next stop was Imi Oudda approx 30 km north of Agadir, also a quiet fisher village, they used
West Sahara
Ready to fly.... boxes from a Norwegian company to collect their fish. We stayed there a couple of days and had our first rain since France. The locals were more than happy, this was the first rain for three years.
Then going south again visiting Arne and Elsmari from Sweden. Wild camping on the beach. Listening to the waves and look at the stars. How perfect can it be....
We had different options to continue, either south again or going into the desert south of the Atlas mountain. As we really don't have any plan, we choose our track almost from day to day. This time we set for Toudourant. This is one of the oldest towns of Morrocco, and at a point it was the capital. The souk (shopping market) was almost empty there, the business was bad. S o anyone in the market for Morroccon products can really do some deals here. From carpets, shoes or any handicrafts.
Talioune is the safran town of Morrocco, the harvest season in september/october.
Then our real climb into the mountain started. We have been traveling a lot in the Norwegian mountains, and know they are beautiful. The Morrocon mountains is
definitely no set back from this. With blue sky sunshine and the different colors it is a fantastic sight. We traveled for a good hour in approximately 2000m height. In the background the higher snow-covered mountains were clear against the sky. We stopped 20 km before Ouarzazate for the night at approx 1200 m height, the night temperature fell to +8 C, but next morning by 9 o´clock it was climbing and by noon back to 20 C.
