WOWW, never thought this was going to happen, especially not this soon. And within my budget. One wishful comment lead to a google search and from there...well we are here!

Luckily we did a little research in the few days we had between booking and touching down on the Maldives. This is how we learned it is a Muslim country, which somehow surprised us. I guess we just assumed it would be Buddhist or Hindu. Also (hooray for the world wide web) we wanted to avoid the resorts, due to money but also we didn't want to be in between the rich and the famous and/or honeymooners. This how we got to taking a local ferry for less than a dollar each, and the day after we left for Maafushi, our paradise for 5 days. Paradise with local food, some blue skies and diving. Let me tell you about the diving; it is fun, it is incredible, cheap, and very much incredible again.

I've done 7 dives and seen sooo much, besides the always very welcome colourful fish, tiny creatures and funky stares from them to you. I've also encountered some biggies and definately some firsts. Imagine a shark cleaning station with white tip and grey reef sharks and a hell of current, but also manta rays during diving and an 'in between snorkel' and my dearest turtles (hawksbill). All together a very wonderful few days in this heavenly part of earth.
