First of all, let me just say that I have never slept so well in a long time. My head hits the pillow and I am gone until the very next morning. I definitely needed the vacation and had been looking to the break for a while now. Paris is doing me some good.
Today was one of those days with no real purpose. Just some aimless walking around in Paris. Although there are definitely things that need to be seen and to be done in Paris, my mom and I have just as much pleasure just stopping at a random metro station and exploring the neighbouring streets. And that's the day that we had in store ...
We started the day with a cafe creme at Bistro Dupleix which is just up the street from our hotel and across the street from the subway station. It is the perfect way to start the day.
Our first stop would be the Porte Dauphine metro station. I wanted to see it because it has the old art deco awning ... a photo op if I ever saw one. We decided to just explore the surrounding streets. The apartment buildings
are just so beautiful and interesting that it definitely makes you want to move here! But then again, I always have an urge to move after visiting some of my favorite cities!!
From there, we walked the large dusty sidewalks of Avenue Foch which leads directly to the Arc de Triomphe. It remains quite impressive to see all of the cars going through this massive traffic circle. You would have to pay me serious money to drive Miranda Cooper through that! Too scary!
We then hopped on the subway to the Saint-Paul metro station. The first time I visited Paris, I stayed at the Hotel Jeanne d'Arc which is located on a tiny street in the Marais district. I wanted to show my mom the neighbourhood where I had stayed and I realized how pleasant these tiny streets are.
It was at that time that the menu from Les Bougresses came calling. I had the most delicious meal ever. The onion soup was seriously so good that it was almost a religious experience. The duck breast was also to die for. I highly recommend this little restaurant on Rue de Jarente. It is small but so quaint
and atmospheric.
From there, we just walked along the Seine having a look at the books for sale by the many vendors. This led us to Notre Dame. In the event of the 850 year anniversary of this beautiful cathedral, the city erected bleachers which allowed us to sit and take in the beautiful architecture and the sublime sound of the bells chiming. We also went in to visit the cathedral and sat for a short while to take in a portion of the church service that was taken place. It began with some beautiful hymns. It goes without saying that the acoustics are incredibile.
We continued walking for a bit but we were starting to get tired so we called it a day. Another beautiful day in Paris!!

A great title
Reminds me of the travel quote by J.R.R. Tolkien who once said, "Not all who wander are lost." Wandering aimlessly in Paris is an art form.
