Bit blurry cause it was taken from bus, but think it's a nice pic!
Still in Ushuaia, we kind of think we're blending in nicely here now, so much so that we reckon tourists will be asking us for advice from here on in. We decided that if we continued moping then our trip would quickly turn miserable & on Monday night there was no where we'd rather have been than at home. But then yesterday was amazing, we got a bus to the Tierra del Fuego National Park and we did a 10km trek, oh my god it was so stunning. The route was completely covered in ice and snow so we had to walk kind of slowly at the beginning & then we got a little too brave and started to walk really quickly. It was inevitable that one of us was going to take a tumble and just as we began the return leg of our walk, Gwen took an unmerciful hopper down on the ice. I got a little fright cause we were a bit remote and I was afraid she'd broken her tailbone, but luckily after a few minutes it didn't hurt so much so we soldiered on. She's a bit sore today but I think she'll cope!

At the end of the trek is a little coffee place so we dragged our wet, tired & dirty bodies in there and warmed up by the open fire with plenty of coffee. Got the bus back to town, collected our clean laundry (I'm telling you the simple things you take for granted at home), we got an amazing kick from smelling our freshly laundered clothes!) Went back to our hostel cooked dinner & then went down to reception/bar with the intention of being more sociable. Don't think we banked on either of us being quite as sociable as we were, we even had the Argentine guy behind reception belting out The Pogues, The Stunning & The Wolfe Tones (which he loved!). This was of course fuelled by plenty of vino (or bino as they pronounce it). For 2 girls who barely spoke for the past few days I'd say they were amazed by our little outburst. So now we've loads of new friends & we're all wallowing in our inability to get out of here, but all enjoying it.

Today was an extremely pleasant although non eventful day. We got up late (cause of the old vino!). Had a leisurely breakfast, went to the yamana (native aborigines to Tierra del Fuego) museum. Strolled around town, had lunch. Went to look in shops, I got an early birthday present, a swarovski crystal ring. Now we're contemplating what to do for the evening, we know it's not going to involve wine, but who knows. This place isn't exactly the social capital of the world, but we're trying to convert them!

We probably going horse riding tomorrow, Gwen's a little apprehensive about this, but I'm all excited. A Dutch guy and a German girl from our hostel are probably going to come with us. I've loads of pictures taken but can't seem to post them cause it takes too long, will do so when I get a chance.

Too Much Vino!!
Hmm think Gwen must be a bad influence on you never remember too many stories about vino from New Zealand. Can't wait to see the pics from ye're travels.
