What a great day today! We had been looking forward to visiting Lincoln New Mexico. This is where Billy the Kid escaped from Pat Garrett and shot several people. It was a great piece of history and Mason did a project on New Mexico in school and this was something he was looking forward to seeing. Imagine our surprise when we showed up to find out it was Lincoln County Days going on. We were able to see a parade, sample some local cuisine (it was SOOOOOO good) and really get a feel for the people of this area. It was a something we had been looking forward to and this just made it better. Once we were done seeing what we needed to see, we left and went to Fort Stanton. This was a fort that was used as a German internment camp and a tuberculosis hospital. There are 52 buildings spread out over several acres. It was very interesting and certainly not as busy as the Lincoln County Courthouse. We left and headed to Roswell New Mexico. We spent a few hours by the pool, I somehow managed to get crapped on by a bird, and did some laundry.
I can't believe how much laundry I already have to do. With the huge storm we were in yesterday, we went through more clothes than what I had planned. That storm was something else and we are headed further south into more crazy weather. So far the weather has been hot, but no humidity...thank goodness. Tomorrow we are hitting Carlsbad Caverns and the great state of Texas! Theo cannot wait!
