Lufthansa 690, 451. Los Angeles, CA to Tel Aviv, Israel with an 8 hour layover in Frankfurt. Of course I would not stay all 8 hours in Frankfurt International, that'd be a terrible waste. So I got out of the airport and took a train to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station) where I branched out from there. Just a dull comment, the Frankfurt train public transporation puts the greater LA system to shame, but I mean, which city doesn't right? From the HBF, I walked to a pub with an over-friendly German lady who offered me a beer at 4PM, which I declined, and had a little lunch of sausage and potato salad. A train ride later, I was at one of Frankfurt's famous Cathderals, called the "Dom". Astounded by its granduer, I alter also realized that there were a few other beautiful buildings across the river, where I would spend the next hour or so. On the way back to the airport, I shared a train with throngs upon throngs of Germans wearing their "Deustchland" attire, flags, hats, etc. I forgotten that the German national team would play in the Quarter finals of the Euro's against Greece that night.

The heart of the Frankfurt public transportation system!
I'd always wanted to be in London for the Olympics, but I guess being in Europe during the Euro's is gratification enough. At the airport before the flight, we were searched thoroughly before boarding to Tel Aviv, for security purposes, and it was off to a plane to the Holy Land. I only spent about 3 hours in Frankfurt, but that was enough for me to fall in love with the city, needless to say, I'll be back in a month. As the Bundespolizei (federal police) officer so nicely said to me as I left customs, "Chao" Frankfurt! Thanks for being so nice to me!

you narrate your travels so vividly Conor. This is awesome, I've read this entry before but I had no clue I could comment on it. Needless to say I am quite jealous and am sure you are having an awesome time, although I am a little disappointed at your rejection of the beer, I am proud to hear you've been getting some free shots in Tel Aviv. I'm in Alhambra tonight as I've been with Claudia this whole weekend for my birthday, might indulge on The Hat tonight, there's one close by ;) Cheers man! And keep us posted! -Gabe
