Yes, you read the blog title correctly and no I didn't spell it wrong according to Student A.

I really have enjoyed teaching this term and the following email conversations make me laugh, yet said for the education system in China for teaching English. This is a freshman at our school who has studied English for a minimum of seven years.

Student: Dear Elyse, I want to make sure our English topic to do in the next week 2 ? Or Under the next week?Thank you Student A

My response: Next week you can tell me your English topic if you already know what you want to talk about. I will not require the topic due until June 5th as many students were gone last night from class and I have no way to notify all of them.

Student: Thank teacher,I have knew it .Good night sweet dreams

My response: You can email me your topic and I will put it on the list, as you will be the 1st student to tell me.

Student: My topic is Frence.I will introduce something about Frence.

My response: You mean the country France?

Student: Yes.The country Frence,I very like it

My response: You are spelling it wrong, it is the country of France and they speak the French language. Not Frence!

48 hrs later

Student: Thanks to the teacher's guidance. Now,I know it . I should say France

I enjoy all of my students, especially the one's that try and Student A was trying very hard but I don't think she quite got what I was trying to tell her. I look forward to her speech about "Frence" and if she will understand my questions about her speech.

On a happier note, the students I taught here at WXP Fall 2010 are graduating on June 15th. I taught between 95-100 students that studied Business English. Of those students, 17 of them took the exam for them to have the chance to enter University Fall 2012 and 15 of them passed which means they will be attending University this coming September. I am so excited for them.

The prior year 12 Business English students took the exam and 9 passed. This is great news for the department with an increase in the number of students taking the exam and a higher passing percentage.
