I am writing this blog at the airport - which can mean only one thing.. We are flying home - and so ends our travels .. for now anyways.

After a fairly chilled 10 days on the various islands, our final few days were busy busy as we began our trip back to Bangkok.

We had one final night free and could have stayed put and chilled out on the beach.. but of course wee got our backpacks on and booked a boat to Railay beach on the mainland as we had heard amazing things abouut the rea.. most importantly that there were little cheeky black wild monkeys everywhere!! .. this we had to se being that we were yet to see a monkey despite covering most of thailand!! We had heard about a beach called ton sai which you can only reach by a longtail boat (a long, thin, traditional thai water taxi that the islanders use as their main form of transport ..). Someone had even called it the 'pai by the sea'. We were there!

As always with our tavels we got on the boat and bumped into some Canadian's that we had camped with on maya 'leonardo dicaprio' bay and we all headed to ton sai together. Unfortuntely as soon as they realised there was no air con, no electicity in the daytime and bamboo huts to sleep in... they got right back on the next boat! Andy and I on the other hand were impressed by the lack of cockroaches and porchlights and checked right in. The bay was gorgeous, quiet, everything made from bamoo, and full of travellers. (although the owners of our huts did keep catching squirrels ... we didn't eat there just incase .....) Spent a large part of the night with a thai guy called jimi with an enormous afro learning how to walk a tight rope ( about a foot off the ground .. ). We were even dragged up by a band to do a bit of singing!!

The next day to soak up every last ray of sun we hired a kayak for a few hours and headed down the coast which was tiring on the arms but great fun to explore all he caves and islands. Unfortunately that was the end of our beach time and so we said our goodbyes, caught a longtail to the nearest beach, a pick up truck to a city called krabi and found a cheap hotel for the night, grabbed some curry off the street which burnt our heads off!! .. and the next morning flew (oh yes we flew) to bangkok and checked into the most beautiful hotel i have ever been in, where the porter even carried our grubby backpacks to our room for us. Hilarious. They even came back later to bring slippers and tell us tomorrows weather and turn the bedsheets over so we could get in. Apparently the rich struggle with this .... Seriously thouugh, never been treated so well and we had a huge suite with a balcony and an amazing view of bangkok from the 52nd floor!

For our final day we visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok, (which was breathtakingly beautiful and very sparkly) and had a final few hours on Khao San Road where we stocked up on cheap tat and pressies (look forward to that families 😉 ) and went back to our hotel for a shower .. then a bath (much needed) and we watched The Beach .. simply so that we could shout 'We've been there'!! .. every 3 minutes. Pefect end to our trip.

Our last few days have been fun, unpredictable and full of variety .. much like the rest of or trip! Now its time to head to London Town and rejoin the world. See you all at the other end.
