So I thought I'd practice a bit and create a few entries with the familiarity of my own computer. Today was Rick and Jen's wedding. Rick and I have known each other for four years: he was actually one of the first people I remember meeting when school started four years ago. He was also my partner in crime for our school's American Idol competition last year (we made it to the finals) and won the $1000 first prize when he competed solo this year. Fitting enough, his winning song was an original one about his fiancee!

At the reception tonight Rick credited me as the reason why he and Jen ever met. I had kinda forgotten about that: two years ago, Rick and I were at a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy concert at a local bar. I had invited Rick, knowing his love for swing music, and was waiting for another guy friend to show up. As we stood there listening, Rick noticed a girl standing on the other side of the dance floor. Our conversation went something like this (according to Rick's story earlier tonight):

Rick: Hey, do you see that girl over there? She's really cute.

Becky: You should go talk to her.

Rick: Hmm. I think she might be with that guy that's standing next to her.

Becky: That's ok. Just wait til he moves, go over to the bar and get a drink or something, then when you're standing near her just strike up a conversation.

Rick: Ok. Maybe after this song is done.

Becky: Would you stop being such a chickens**t and just go over there!!!! (I don't remember actually using the term "chickens**t," but Rick swears by it!).

And the rest is history. Congratulations, guys! Hope you're dancing to swing music together til you're old and gray!

No one had the heart to tell Alex that the best man is supposed to give a speech, not sing "You're Beautiful."

I love wedding photos! Even when I've never met the people... I get all teary eyed. (Such a sap.) The wedding looked beautiful, so bride and groom, if you're reading this - congrats from a complete stranger! And Becky - good luck on your trip! Looking forward to the entries, hope I get to see you at some point! x ju the london-based-kiwi
