Anka Hi, Beck! I love reading your thrice-weekly blog updates. Dubrovnik was quite hot last year (in October!) so I can just imagine what you're going through in mid-July. Try to keep cool... I hope you're feeling better! :-( Love you, Mom. P.S. Allison (if you're reading this...), I didn't know you were Croatian! ;-)
Dear anonymous Yes, I can charge my iPod with its own charger attached to a European adapter (no converter needed since the iPod charger works with both voltages...um, or vice versa. Never was great with physics). However, I won't leave it charging when I'm not in the room with it, just to be on the safe side.
To Allison: Re: Proud to be a "Croation" "We hate to practice, but we love to win!"
LOUDER! FASTER!
"WE HATE TO PRACTICE, BUT WE LOVE TO WIN!!!"
~Becky
Proud to be a "Croation" Hi Becky, it's been really interesting reading your journals. Very hot here in London too, today may well reach 100 F! Sorry you were ill, I hope you're all better now. I couldn't help notice that some RED SHOES would look lovely with your summer vest. :) Love, Allison
I know how you feel! Ah, there are the Righteous Brothers ;) Poor thing. I find that I keep getting flu-y in the intense heat of this summer, but what are we supposed to do in 33 degree heat?! I actually find that the chills of a healthy fever really make the hot nights more bearable! I hope that you find some air conditioning. Somewhere. [Now I'm internally laughing at the prospect of European air conditioning.] Jxx
Delicious! Ah, I'm glad that you specified as I thought that you meant the Righteous Brothers' song... I maintain that it sounds like Madge (she hates that, but I am still working on my British immersion!) is saying 'slowey'. Kind of like your 'whole wheat track' thing I suspect ;) I love that you met someone that works at Walkers--I help support him almost everyday!! Also, those are the biggest blindin' blueberries that I've ever seen. Jxx
Hi . Sorry to have missed you in slovenia but I'm happy that you are having a good time even though you got sick. Um, I just wanted to give you a tip that I picked up when I was in Bosnia. I don't know if the guide books write about this but since you like burek so much, you should know that in Bosnia they sell burek by the kilo. You don't get a piece like in Slovenia but you have to tell them how much you want...100g., 200 g. etc. HAve a good time and keep the pictures coming.
Monika
Non-American Style Italian Food I just got back from my trip (neglecting my own blog) and have had a marvellous time catching up on your blog! We have pizza with egg in London too...so next time you're in town ;-P Jxx
Moste? Becky, did Darja take you to my cousin Lojze Anzic's gostilna? He's in Moste! (Back in the day, he owned a disko [pronounced DEE skoh] which was THE place to hang out. But I digress...) Sounds like you're having a good time! Good luck on the photo uploads. Soak up the Ancient Roman ambience in Pula! I think you'll love it there... LP, Mom.
She's on a mission! On a mission to see how many updates she can post in a single day! No sooner did I read one, and return to my inbox than there was another link waiting for me! :) Wow, you're having an amazing adventure. Now I know what it feels like reading the blogs and being jealous of other people's new experiences, I think I'll have to get moving again! x ju
I wanted to answer the music question, but am not quick enough Becky, Congrats on your graduation. I am so glad you get to get some traveling in. Hey, just a note, Ben Folds is in my top five artists, it must be in the blood.
awww :) I love wedding photos! Even when I've never met the people... I get all teary eyed. (Such a sap.) The wedding looked beautiful, so bride and groom, if you're reading this - congrats from a complete stranger! And Becky - good luck on your trip! Looking forward to the entries, hope I get to see you at some point! x ju the london-based-kiwi
This is my super exciting yet super unfinished story of my backpacking adventures through eastern Europe (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Hungary) in summer 2006. Seeing as how it's two years later and I have not added journals or photos from Sarajevo or Budapest, I doubt that it's going to happen. But you never know :). Enjoy!
