¡amigos nuevos!
me, carlo, leslee, ricardo and lauren at nacho's suuuuch a fun night last night! 😊
we met leslee's friend that she met on tuesday at starbucks (he came up to her while she was reading and asked her if she liked to read - boys, remember that line) named ricardo, and his friend carlo at starbucks. can i just say that i love the mexican tradition of the semi cheek kiss kind of thing? i think its so cute. even though i am way awkward at it, i think ist fun. anyway. we all headed to the cine. it took us a long time to find a movie to see, and we planned to go see el farsante (which we had no idea what it was) instead of golpe de suerte (ha! we didn't know what that was, and thought about seeing it, until we realized it was 'just my luck' with lindsay lohan.. haaa), however they were out of tickets. so we decided to walk across the street to the other movie theater (weird, yeah) that's inside the mall, to see if they had viviendo con mi ex (the break-up, which we had all been wanting to see). it was there that we all realized el farsante
otra vez :)
carlo, me, leslee, ricardo and lauren waiting for our check at nacho's was 'the ringer'.. wow. so glad they didn't have tickets. we continued to make jokes about seeing golpe de suerte.. ricardo told me he had been waiting his entire life to see it, and he couldn't sleep last night because of the excitement. we ended up getting tickets to viviendo con mi ex, and it was really good. really.. real-life like. i dunno. the ending (as john predicted) was a little frustrating for me, but i was ok with it. hehe.
after the movie, we had made plans to meet up with some UnInter kids at nacho's (a new bar?! not los arcos?! no way!) and we invited ricardo and carlo to come along. in the car, we were talking a little about music, and ricardo said he was going to play a song for us that he liked a lot. the song was kind of quiet, but all of a sudden, i realized i knew the song! i seriously know about 3 spanish songs, and (john, you're not going to believe this) it was fotografía by juanes. unbelievable. leslee and i couldn't stop laughing for such a long time about that! nacho's was fun, i tried a clericot (fruity drink.. apple, orange, pineapple, i dunno. but it was good) and we had some tacos that were wonderful. yaaay food. haha. at nacho's, carlo asked me if he could look at my pictures on my camera from the trip, and he did, and he discovered that he and ricardo both were in the background of pictures at los arcos from friday night! how crazy is that?? we also discovered that lauren answers almost every question with the phrase "¿por qué no?" which means, "why not?".. i figured that kind of summed up the evening, since i finally let go of my worries and my skepticism and allowed myself to have a good time with some very not sketchy mexicans 😊
we got back pretty late, around 1, and the shower wasn't working again. we're having quite a bit of issues with our showers, for some reason there is no pressure, so its kind of like trying to take a shower in extremely light rain. or, in leslee and my shower, trying to take a shower in one single stream of water that has a diameter of about a centimeter. it doesn't really work. but tina keeps trying to make it right! hopefully they will be soon 😊...
during class today i was pretty dang tired.. took most of my exam and skipped a class to write a paper. aaaand during conversation group i convinced mariana (our leader) to let us get massages at the free massage table that was set up here today. sure, they were only 5 minutes long, but it was just what i needed! it seems i am very good at convincing professors here to let us do things like go to the mercado in the middle of class, or get massages. or maybe, things are just a whole lot more relaxed here. and i like it that way.
alllright. tomorrow is going to be a big day because we have our first class, but then our furman group is leaving to go to a city called tepoztlán. i think there are mountains and pyramids there. who knows. haha. i never really know what our excursions are going to be like til we get there. then on saturday we are going back to mexico city (argh, not exactly my favorite place) to go to a few museums. sunday, maybe we'll be free?? hehe. no, these are amazing oppurtunities and i am excited about them. buttttt i think i am going to take a siesta GRANDE (BIG nap) this afternoon after la comida!
hope you all are having a wonderful week. ¡abrazos y amor!
