Eh, I've seen bigger.
A Quick Note: Mom and Dad, your comments are getting through fine. As this is a public site and visible to all and sundry, posted comments do not appear until I have a chance to review them. I have the final word on what gets published and so comments that are really more messages or that contain sensitive info, I keep off the page. Were you to comment for example, "Wicked, Frikkin Cool! Can't wait 'til you get back so we can go down to the tavern and get wasted!" O would feel a smidge uncomfortable but I would also be obliged to post your comment.

On to better things...

For those who were concerned, Devan's card fiasco has been resolved and he owes Daniel, Stacey and myself a large sum of money. Good times.
Today we went wandering. We made it eventually to the London Natural History Museum where we looked at old rocks and crystals and plaster molds (moulds here) of dinosaur bones. Daniel was a bit titilated but I kept thinking, "Don't we have this in America?" Anyway, before long, the accented chatter of British children and our growling stomachs got the better of

us and in spite of the free admission, we moved on. While it had been my intention to eat nothing but fish & chips during my stay here, I have found that to be more difficult than I'd imagined and so I didn't protest when we stopped into a small, side-street deli. I bought myself a latte (first good coffee of the trip) and a mozarella and roasted pepper panini. I have to say, not only was this the best meal I've had in London, it was probably the best panini I've ever had. Sidenote: Everybody I've ordered food from so far has been from somewhere other than England.
With panini in hand we continued our walking tour of London and eventually made our way back to Buckingham palace. By the time we got there, Stace and myself had both developed limps. Really should've broken in the shoes before we left. Buckingham is impressive yet not as interesting as I'd have hoped; primarily because the queen is currently in residence and the palace is not open for tours. Lame.
From there we headed to Westminster Abbey which was absolutely amazing. Never in my life have I been inside a building that has been in existence since the 900's. Knowing that I was in the room where William the Conquerer was coronated was thrilling. I knew that a lot of famous brits were buried there but I did not know that their headstones littered the floor. It's a bit odd to be standing next to the sarcophogus containing English royalty that's been dead some 7-800 years. Devan and I argued briefly about whether it was cooler that Chaucer or Handel were buried there, but we both quickly realized how nerdy we were being and put a stop to that.
Now we are headed out for Indian food and then back to the pub for the Argentina football match. Then tomorrow, we're off to a new country. Good times.

Keep it going!!!
Jared, whatever else you do (good english???) on this trip, keep up these blogs. I can read about the places you guys are going in any book, but to hear your "creative" interpretations of what you are seeing is highly entertaining, and really provides Mom and I a chance to share in your adventure. I find myself checking my emails several times a day just to see if you've added a blog. The personal notes about what you are all doing are the best part. I know it takes time out of your valuable day, but I really appreciate your writing. I look forward to the next one. ps. My feelings won't be hurt if you delete this comment. I really just wanted to encourage you to continue. Have fun!! Dad.
