The Metro
After hiking up the stairs Basilique du Sacré-Cœur
Today we got a workout. It started getting of the metro at Abssess in Monmartre near the Sacré-Cœur. That metro must be the deepest one of all bc I counted 100 steps to get out. It was neverending. Once up and out we wandered the shops on our way to the basilique. I like this neighborhood and found a few goodies to take home. I wanted to find the place I got my leather Eiffel tower keychain last time I was here but that was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The Sacré-Cœur is at the top of Monmartre...and that is a nice little trek up. There are still guys at the bottom trying to get you to do some scam, same ones from 2006? We made it up and it is a nice view, too bad it was a little hazy with mist/rain. You can't take pictures inside this basilica but it has a pretty mosaic on the roof.
Hunchback of Notre Dame We headed back to Notre Dame to go up the towers. We got there about 2 and it said it was closed from
View from Notre Dame
Hanging out with the Hunchback of Notre Dame 11:30-2:30 for safety reasons. hmmm...we actually have seen a lot of armed guards with big guns every tourist area. So we waited and waited and waited. They only let about 20 people up every 10-20 min. We had a nice chat with the ladies behind us who I misidentified as British. They were Australian. Said it took them 22 hrs with a layover in Korea to get here. Yikes. The steps up to the top were something. Thank goodness for bootcamp! A said his legs were on fire about halfway up. I think the total stair count: about 400. Well worth it though. The view was awesome. All I could think of though was where was the hunchback? I stood up straighter.
Wandering We wandered around the Latin Quarter across from Notre Dame after trying to go to Sainte-Chappelle and finding it was closed. I got to try out the DIY McDonald's. Much to my chargrin I got it all ordered (by number) and when it came to pay it wouldn't take my card! The cards here in Europe have some sort of microchips in them and since mine didn't it wouldn't process. So I think I sent
2 orders of #1's up to the counter but it wouldn't let me pay, so don't think it got made. We ordered the old fashioned way. The Easy Order is a good idea though. Although it did ask me if I wanted to get a whole wheat Big Mac!!! And they have some bagel burgers here too.
Amis de Paris We met up with the son of one of A's mother's friend (catch that?) that lives here in Paris. When we got back home A got very sick. He is still not doing well today.

Bonjour
Montemarte is my fave area in Paris! And yes, there are always some shady characters there. This hunchback has never been to the top of the Notre Dame. Enjoying your pics! I take it back...I want a gift!!!!
