My neighbors:)
My neighbors Kwasi and Kojo...they have been amazing at showing me around and they make me laugh!! They are welders in the community...they stopped going to school at the age of 15 like many do here due to lack of money, but they are still the happiest people I think I've ever met!! Hi, friends! Thank you sooo much for your notes--I love hearing from you!! I am finally finding where the internet cafes are, so I will hopefully keep in better touch! Life in Ghana is going great....I am making some amazing friends and am getting used to the different way of life. People here are so generous and they work so hard. Despite the fact that they make little money, they are some of the happiest people you'd ever meet. Gosh, it's hard to describe this place, but I will hopefully post some pictures soon! I have met some fellow tourists from my practicum site who hope to travel with on the weekends. One of them is from Kenya and she thinks everything here is so expensive...however, for us Americans everything is soo cheap! (It used to be that 200 cedis=$1 but now 9000 cedis=$1...so my daily ride to work costs about $0.30!😊 By the way, I am going to post a picture of a trotro soon...it's a van that fits about 25 people and it is the main form of transportation here! Everyday on my way to work, the trotros are surrounded with children selling things...it is sad thinking they
Adwoa :)
This young girl, named Adwoa, is a girl living at the clinic. She was found very malnourished (hence her protruding stomach) and the clinic has taken her in and they take amazing care of her. She is very happy and has mastered the Ghanaian art of carrying things on top of the head:) should be in school instead, but the school fees are too expensive for many families. It is no wonder with this heat and in witnessing how hard they work why I don't see many overweight people here! Goodness, it's hard to focus on writing because this cute girl followed me here to learn about the internet😊 She is playing with my hair now😊
I will write more soon!! I miss you, but please know I am doing great and thoroughly enjoying my time here!
Peace, Katie😊

You are so lucky!
I'm so happy that you are having a great time. I'm sure you are beginning to understand when I say that when I boarded the plane to come home, I cried for hours! I still miss Ghana and my friends so much! By the way, I see you are from Iowa, I'm from Minnesota! I think you could travel every weekend and still not see everything in Ghana! The country is beautiful and fascinating! And so inexpensive. When you get time go to the cultural market in Accra where they sell every kind of craft and food. The sellers are a little agressive there, but the prices are really good! And try plantain chips that you can buy in plastic bags from people on the street--I am so hooked on them! I will be anxiously awaiting another entry in your blog. Great Pictures! Don't you think that Ghanaian people are very good looking for the most part? Take care and enjoy--but don't forget to drink as much water as you can hold! You get so dehydrated there so easily!
