Today we decided to go check out what Bohol island is famous for, The Chocolate Hills. The drive was really pretty through rice terraces, small villages etc. On our way we stopped at the Tarsier site.

The tarsier used to be the smallest known mammal in the world but now there is another mammal that takes this recognition. The tarsier is a really cute mammal with owl like eyes, rat like tail, and bat like ears. They are nocturnal, and though a lot of them in the tourist site are awake because people are loud they cannot see good. The tarsiers eat insects and crickets. They only have 1 baby a year, and the baby is the size of a thumb when it is born. The mother tarsier has 6 nipples, but only 4 give milk. The male tarsier's have bigger arms than the girls. Tarsiers are very territorial and always go back to the same tree to sleep.

After a quick drink we got back on the bike to head to Chocolate Hills. It started to rain and Tris has a really hard time seeing in the rain with his glasses on so I offered to drive. I came around a corner to a bridge which I thought looked wide enough for a vehicle and a bike. A big army jeep was heading towards us, and the bike in front of me stopped suddenly. I had to quickly decide to either run into the truck, hit the bike, try to squeeze by the truck across the bridge, or to hit my brakes. I opted for hitting the brakes... and we slid. It all happened so fast. No one came to see if we were alright. Both of us slid along the road, but when we came to a stop we stood up and acessed the situation. Tris had a cut on his elbow and hand, and I felt like I scraped my butt up a bit. Tris wanted to take a look and when I turned around we realized I got pretty bad road burn. Still no one was coming to help us, though there was about 5 people standing around at a shop. Tris flagged down a bike and got him to help us flag down a car. I had to go to a hospital to get cleaned and bandaged up. A nice gentlemen let me lay in the back of his car ( I couldn't sit because the burn was on my lower thigh) and he drove me a little under an hour to the hospital. Tris showed up at the hospital a little bit after me on the bike. I should mention that the bike is fine! The mirror popped off but that was an easy fix, and there is a small scratch on the fender that you can barely notice!! At the hospital they cleaned the abraison with alcohol, put on some medication and gauzed me up. I have to take a antibiotic to prevent infection, and pain killers every 6 hours. $40 later we jumped back on the bike and headed into the town to find a pharmacy and grab a bite to eat. Thank God we are both okay and nothing worse happened. Tris says he doesn't blame me for the accident because it could've happened to him too.

We might attempt to go to the Chocolate Hills in a couple days.
