Before we leave Kaikoura there's one more thing I'd like to add about the Whale Watch - our Trainee Guide.
As we were coming back to the sanctity of the harbour she was still bibbling away and then she said this -
"I'm sorry we didn't see any whales today but I hope you still enjoyed the trip"
As she was saying this there were 32 out of the 38 passengers still throwing up into their sick bags - Unbelievable!!
Anyway, we move on...
We made it ashore and once the ground had stopped moving we made our way to a local cafe as we hadn't had anything to eat since the night before. A hearty breakfast followed and it went someway to settling the stomach. The trip back to Christchurch was via a place called Hanmer Springs (a bit like Aviemore if you've ever been there you'll know what I mean) A dramatic thunderstorm with hail chased us all the way back to Christchurch.
We found our motel (eventually) and then after a couple of pints and a snack we retired for the evening. Tomorrow the Alpine Scenic Railway to Greymouth.
