Left in early for the South Rim, a 130 mile drive. We retraced the road north out of Kaibab Forest that we had traveled after dark two nights before. Spectacular landscape, 2,000 foot cliffs above us, crossing the Colorado river before it enters the Grand Canyon. Drove into the park via the Desert View Road from the east. Stopped at look outs along the way and reached the visitor's center by 3 PM. We stayed to listed to an unhappy ranger give a talk on the endangered Condor then joined Joanie and Tony at our campsite in Williams (55 miles south of the Canyon, much too far away).

The next day we rented a car and drove to the Canyon. Took a bus to the the West from the visitor's center and hiked trails along the Canyon. Reached Hermit's Rest at the extreme West end of the park. Took hundreds of pictures of the Canyon and local wildlife, no Condors but one Turkey Buzzard. Stayed at the Geology Museum on Yavapai point until sunset then drove back to Williams after dark. A very long day!

I have a great deal of respect for your eyes and the things they have taken in this month. Incredible!
