I arrived very early in the morning into Hobart, Tasmania. My airport shuttle took me to my hostel and I was able to check in straight away. I walked down to the car rental place and picked up my little car for the week.

My first stop was to drive down to the information center to get maps and info and things I need to see in Tasmania. I picked up heaps of brochures and walked around the waterfront area. It was a warmish (18 degrees) but with a cold wind day in Hobart with a few clouds in the sky.

I decided to head to the grocery store and stock up now that I've got a car for the week. Grabbed some lunch and then decided to make the drive up to Mount Wellington which overlooks Hobart. It's about a 30 minute drive from Hobart to get to the top up narrow windy roads.

Well, by the time I got up to the top there was a cloud that had swept in and hung at the top of the mountain. And it was carrying snow. I stepped out of the car and I was really not prepared for it. SO COLD! It was exciting to see snow again BUT I was not wearing the right clothes for it! Brrrr.

I ran to the viewing platform that is covered in but the cloud had blocked my view completely. So I ran back to the car and started driving back now. Not far down and the sky was clear and I had a great view of Hobart again and a pretty rainbow.

I drove around a bit more to the other side of the Hobart bridge to see some other lookouts. Hobart is a very pretty city and one of the oldest in Australia. I headed back to the hostel and ended up meeting a really nice Canadian girl but she was looking for a job so couldn't join me on my roadtrip.
