Arrived early evening in Shanghai safe and sound after our 5 hr bullet train from Beijing. The first port of call was the shanghai bund which is the place to go for the best of the shanghai skyline. Views were amazing and we even managed to find somewhere cheap in a prime location to sit and enjoy a beer.

Today we booked our train tickets to Xian and travelled around with our Chinese speaking room mate. Having been to China several times before had good knowledge of places to eat. The china lonely planet guide recommended a place to go for dumplings which did not disappoint!!

Other than just eating all day we visited the Shanghai museum in the morning. Was very interesting but lets just say that it is probably the last museum me and Pete will be visiting over the next few months. Although Emma….. I hear Bali has a few good museums if your interested?

The afternoon was spent in a department store selling all the finest brands of clothing, sunglasses, bags, watches etc at low low prices. Pete managed to pick himself up a genuine Montblanc watch at a very reasonable price of £30. Bargin!! It did, however, stop working even before getting back to the hostel. Luckily they replaced it when we returned.

Tomorrow we plan on going to the financial district in Pudong and taking in the sights at the top of the 492m world financial centre building. Fingers crossed for better weather than today which has been mainly drizzle and cloudy. Also, I think a repeat visit to the dumpling store is in order!!

Stay classy England
