The MiruThe MiruThe Miru

The man gave this to Dad as a thank you
Story by Will-typed by Mum.

Getting the Miru.

On Wednesday we were heading down to Alice Springs when Dad saw some Aboriginals in their car and they waved us down. They were heading down from Kings Canyon to Alice Springs to get some groceries. In Kings Canyon they had expensive prices. They waved us down because their car had broken down and they didn't have the right spanner for the car. So Dad go out the spanner but it didn't fit. So Dad said, "wait a minute, I have another spanner" and it was luckily the one that they needed. There were 8 in the car. The Aboriginal children were standing in the middle of the highway playing. In the Northern Territory, the speed limits can get up to 130 so it was dangerous. The old lady was telling them off. Dad fixed the tyre and he got blisters on his hands because it was soooo hot. As a thank you, the man had made a Miru (a spear thrower) which was made out of a hollow tree log and resin from a plant. He came up to the car and gave me the spear thrower.
