Man my arms are tired after flying all night (cue clapping sound affects). If you hadn't already read Rachel's blog then you don't know that we arrived in Reykjavik around 9:40 AM (5:40 AM back home). Our flight had some minor turbulence and two major pain in the asses but overall a decent flight. Let me start off by saying I usually fall asleep on a plane with ease. Ten minutes into any flight you can usually find me face-planted on the seat tray in front of me, as dirty as that may be. Well... WELL NOT THIS FLIGHT! The lady in front of me reclined maximum reclinage! I'm sorry but reclining on a plane should be outlawed. It's common courtesy that if someone is sitting behind you, you are absolutely NOT entitled to recline! Anyway, the other annoyance was some lady two rows ahead of us an across the plane telling Rachel to put her blind down because it was too bright. Hello! We paid for that seat just like you did lady and we chose a window! All in all, good flight but I thought it would be good to document every frustrating moment we went through on the
plane. But when it's all said and done I'm thankful we made it safely.
Customs was awesome and took about 10 minutes. After customs we had to go outside; it was about 50 degrees and I was in shorts and a t-shirt and felt AWESOME. A bus took us to our hotel and it took about 45 minutes. I was passed out almost the entire time. Once we go to the hotel we dropped our bags off and did some city searching! We booked our activities for the rest of the week and Rachel took some Icelandic money out of the ATM for scrapbooking purposes. The city is uber easy to navigate which is nice since Italy was so damn complicated. Leading up to the trip Rachel was talking up these hotdogs they have here which are made from lamb as opposed to, well who knows what back in the states. The verdict is out: I still hate hotdogs!
After more exploring and photo taking we eventually got into the room at 2PM. The room is a typical European room: small with a cozy modern feel to it. After settling in we then went back out (this time
I wore a hoodie) and we went to Hallgrimskirkja, a local church. The views are awesome and you can see the whole city. At this point during the day wind gusts were probably between 20-30 MPH. It was crazy windy and Rachel almost blew to sea multiple times.
The next thing we saw was a cool piece of architecture, it was a viking ship statue right by the water. You would only imagine how cold it was down there and for some reason there was a crazy duck swimming in the water! We took some sweet photos and headed off to dinner. In Europe they are so relaxed about serving tables so when we were done it took about 15 minutes until the waitress came over with our check and I was so tired I may have fallen asleep at the dinner table. I can neither confirm or deny this and there is no photo proof so you can guess for yourself.
Now it's 10:30 PM and I'm updating the blog in the room with Rachel passed out. The only reason I'm awake is because I slept all day. Greg, I tried to take your advice with the
eating schedule and I think I was OK with it but I'm not used to all nighters so I failed miserably and now I'm not nearly as tired as I was before!
Yet I must go to sleep ASAP because tomorrow is whale watching at 9AM followed by the Blue Lagoon! Oh also it's still light here at 10:30, sick! Tomorrow at some point we will be standing by
THIS web cam and waving to any friends or family who may be checking this out. I'm thinking around 2:30PM at home?
More updates to come tomorrow! Talk to you then.

Love the Blog
Hi Jason and Rachel, This blog is a wonderful idea!!! I feel like I am in Iceland with you, and I am sure you love that (haha). Keep writing and sending pictures. The sky looks so clear; is there any pollution in Iceland? It sure does not look like there is from the photos. Jason, we will be having hot dogs for dinner when you get back to NJ. Hang on to Rachel so she does not blow away. Have fun!!! Love you guys!
