Good Morning!

So day 2 was as action packed!

Started fairly early and was up, out and on our way to KL Communications Tower before 10am! Then Daniel decided that we should walk (fine) through the park to get there (mostly fine) in the heat (ugh!) and up a hill (ew!). We made it without any murders occuring (just!) and went into the tower. As usual customer service was excellent and we went up in the EPIC lift for 250meters to the observation deck. The view was impressive. We could see all of KL even though the heat had made it hazy. We walked around, half paying attention to the cheesy, but very informative, audioguide and took some snaps! Being able to see the Petronas Towers as part of the view swung us the way of going up the Communications Tower instead of trying to get up the Petronas Towers themselves. To us, that seemed the better option.

But, that's not all folks! With the ticket we gained entry into the ANIMAL ZONE!!!!!!! Oh yes indeedy! Snakes and turtles with 2 heads and lots of albino 'animals' were there. We even got our photos taken with the resident parrots. And the cockatoo bit me as a non-optional extra!

Once we'd escaped the 'terrifying' animal zone, we headed down to the monorail to visit the 'Golden Triangle - the main shopping district.

We had a wander around a fairly large shopping centre and nosied about, before heading to the Heritage Food Hall, where we ate fried yam and sweet potato balls. We drank flowers. It was supposed to be crysanmththahnmnmn tea, but even I coudn't finish it.

Then we headed to 'Times Square' shopping centre. 10 floors of shops and stalls with its own theme park inside. (Think Trafford Centre on top of Meadowhall on top of Bluewater on top of Westfield on top of Lakeside for the shopping centre and think more like Southport for the rides...). A brief look around the shops was merely a prelude to the real reason behind being in this ridiculously sized homage to retail. We were here for the indoor rides!

Daniel and I went on the bumper cars (a lot) and he enjoyed crashing into the 8 year olds - a disconcerting amount of enjoyment one might think. The roller coaster, however, was ace. Unlike the 'actions' by Daniel, which largely included putting his arm in front of my face. Or doing a wave at the camera. We went on it 3 times and finally managed a seat at the front, and there's nothing quite like getting the front seats on a roller coaster!

By this time I was feeling fairly knackered, so we headed back to the hostel and I got an hour's sleep whilst he went to the common room and had a beer for a change.

Feeling semi refreshed we got ready and headed off for food, which we found in the next street in a little Indian place. The food was great and was very filling. One of the patrons frequenting the restaurant overheard our Englishness and proceeded to make his way over to our table with a proposition regarding his business and it's UK based sector. As much as the idea of running a business does appeal to him one day, we politely declined his offer; but took a business card and a napkin with the company website written on it with us on our way to the other side of town to see the main night time event; the twin spikes of the Petronas Towers. These were amazing at night, lit up like spikes of platinum and diamonds.

We did the photo thing and then walked (the long way) to the nearby Traders hotel and visited their SkyBar. We managed to secure an unreserved table next to the floor to ceiling windows and had a tipple overlooking the towers. I had a Lychee Rose, yes it was as girly as it sounds, and Daniel had a more manly drink... a twist on the Manhattan.

Then back, through the lovely park at the foot and to the rear of the tower, to the metro and to the hostel. To pack. And head to bed, because... it was a 4am start to head to the next stage of the adventure, the island of Borneo!
