I began this blog as a recent graduate of Benedictine College, and traveled to Benin, Africa with the Peace Corps. I was there for 27 months, and enjoyed sharing everything I did there with friends and family at home. Tanneries

This is one of the tanneries in Fez, where leather is worked and dyed to be made into coats and shoes and bags, etc. It stinks to high heaven here, but fortunately visitors get a spray of mint leaves to hold to their noses.

Tannery Waste

I was told that the water is filtered, but I would like to see it. This is where the waste of the tanneries runs off and out of town.

Storks

Between Fez Djadid and Bab Boujeloud there are plenty of posts for storks to perch upon.

Ostatha

I am with my professor and a classmate. I benefitted very much from this tutor session, wherein we studied poetry and short stories and discussed culture and news.

Classmates.

More classmates. We had a pretty good summer.
