View of Lugano from train station On the train to Lugano...
As we're passing Lake Como, am thinking about coming back to visit it, but I have a feeling that Lugano is the Swiss version. The scenery is gorgeous, all mountains and water.
Only two months are left in this adventure, and now the time is starting to go fast. I have so much left to do! I find myself thinking more and more in terms of "when I come back..." It makes it a little easier to look at all the things passing me by that I don't have time for
...
We got into Lugano around noon and spent a pleasant afternoon. It really was a nice break from the city. Lugano is one of those towns in which every street goes uphill, so we definitely worked off our lunch. The main event was our paddleboat adventure-fifteen minutes in the middle of a freezing lake in a contraption that no American would have let us take without making us sign a pile of liability forms (its odd, the entire concept of liability and the threat of lawsuit is completely foreign to most people I've meet here).
The whole afternoon we felt like
Chess
Takes the old men in the park playing chess to a new level. we had actually travelled south rather than north, with the warm breezes and leafy trees. It is definitly nice to have the benefit of a large body of water. We couldn't escape without a stop at a gelateria and the tourist shop (I began my collection of patches!) and then we were on our way, completely relaxed after a day in a tourist town empty of tourists.
Now, I'm frantically planning my Easter break trip in Scotland!

Adventures for a Lifetime
I'm so glad that you're having such a wonderful time -- even with your music.:-) It is incredible also to hear you intend to go back, not to make this a one time shot. That's fabulous! I hope that your Easter trip is going well. Hey, if you get a chance and have the cash could you pick me up a postcard from the places you travel? My niece collects postcards and it would be great to give her some from Europe. Let me know. You'll have all summer to tell me about your adventures. When you come back you'll have to come over for dinner. Enjoy yourself!! Jane - Jane
