Packed and ready - 3 days until we are off

:

Well and truly on the countdown now bags are packed (just!) and we are counting down the days - 2 days left of work and 3 days until we fly out ....

We decided to pack early to test how it would all fit into our new Kathmandu backpacks ... lets just say its lucky we packed when we did as it took MUCH longer than expected and was a rather stressful task.

We set out all of our clothes and started trying to fit them in - Duane has a 75L backpack and I have a tiny 65L! My bag was full only for me to look over and find half my clothes still sitting on the bed unable to fit in. Lets just say my packing list had to be reduced ... out went the hairdryer, full size shampoo and conditioners which have be replaced with tiny travel size ones, shoes are being cut from the list - this was when the blood pressure levels rose ... but in the end we managed to get it all in - with room to spare. Both of our packs weight around 12-13kg! I'm impressed - the lightest i've EVER packed yet the furtherest i've ever been from home. I'm not going to fill the spare room in the backpack because then i'll be able to bring lots of goodies back 😊

2 days left of work, then we are on a plane to Brisbane. We will spend 2 nights in Brisbane then on Saturday we are off on an Air NZ jet plane to Los Angeles. We have a 2 hour stopover in NZ on Saturday (5-7pm) where we will be so so sooooo close to our special NZ family yet still so far away 😞 But we will have a drink to celebrate being in the same country as you all - even if it is only just for 2 hours!

Paperwork is checked & ready & bags are packed and now we just have to wait ... and get even more excited about our holiday!
