The Cape
Your view of the Cape facing north from the very tip!Well I figured it has been awhile since my last update and I should inform everyone of my whereabouts even if its still in Cape Town. I've been pretty laid back here and have enjoyed lots of the local sights, but also trying to be cautious of what I spend because for once I'm not in a really cheap country and can't just do anything I want. Fortunately for me the weather has agreed with that plan and showered rain on us for quite a few days and made it easy to read and make my daily trip to the grocery store.
Ryan arrived safe and sound and followed pretty much the exact same sleep pattern as I did, not that there is much of a pattern to just sleeping constantly. We've become acquainted with most of the bars on Long Street and all the staff at the hostal. We've had a bit of trouble trying to decide what to do in terms of actually travelling, we both love Cape Town and its hard to leave, but the weather does suck and apparently its just here near the Cape.

A 500 Rand fine for feeding them, but no mention of such a price for hitting them with a car! wasn't that exciting. I guess I learned I don't have a huge interest in the local flora & fauna.
We had a road trip that was worth mentioning, Ryan, myself and Charlie (Norwich England) rented a shit box automobile (the cheapest one possible in town) and for about 300 rand we managed to pay all the fees and even purchase some "petrol". We stuck Charlie in "the boot" (English translation: trunk) and after Ryan stalled, peeled out and in general just buggered up the car to high heavens we made it 70km on the left side of the road with only a few harsh words and honks from the locals. We even managed to successfully navigate a "roundabout" and learned where and how to yield properly without causing too much trouble.
On our personal safari we managed to spot Baboons, Ostriches and Penguins. Tonight was supposed to be our last night in Cape Town but as it turns out our bus doesn't leave until Sunday, so we're celebrating someone else's last night instead. Charlie says he'll get drunk as a skunk both nights anyways.

The commonwealth drinking team! We should have simply had a cross Atlantic drinking alliance but things got a bit crazy with our ambassadors to the sport. From left to right: Charlie, Liam "I'm barking mad, bullocks off!" and James (10 Rand poorer after the Arsenal Barcelona game) and of course Ryan sportin his Scotland sweater. other day, however I found the dogs more exciting than the Cheetahs. It seems most of the Cheetah deaths in South Africa are from local farmers protecting their flock, so they put a program in place for dogs to be trained that just protect the flocks and apparently scare away cheetahs. I forgot to photo the dogs but they are some kind of Turkish hound and were extraordinary animals.
I received photos of B$G back home which was quite delightful and brought a tear to my eye. Everyone at the A.P.T. looks to be in good health and with the glimpse into your world that I received all I could decipher was some sort of massive tide change on the poker table from Abes to RJK. Everyone in the hostal was quite excited to see what a "typical Canadian apartment" looks like even though all that was said was "what's so different about it?"

You guys put Charlie in the Trunk TOO!!?!?
And I thought we were the only ones who stuffed Charlie in the trunk of the Car... In fact, Byron and I now call ALL trunks "the Charle" in memorandum...I'll send you the picture of it in commemoration.
