Torres del Paine - in a nutshellTorres del Paine - in a nutshellTorres del Paine - in a nutshell

This really capatures the whole park

Well here I am at last, long time no blog, but here it is, behold!

In the far south of Chile lies "Torres del Paine", its considered the No. 1 attraction in Chile - so thought I'd go and find out why.

After some 33+ hours of busing right to the east coast of Argentina and back into Chile and then two days of feeling deftly sick, I got my gear together for the great hike through Torres.

Dìa 1.
Still feeing under the weather I managed to hike myself to 'camp torres'and with enough time to see the mirador before sunset (spectacular) to get this angle you have to scramble up many, many a rock but its worth it.

Hiking over 20kms around these great peaks with all my gear was visually stunning but physically and psychologically draining. The winds over the glacial waters of the lake can be strong enough to pull you off the track completly. Surviving this I made it to ´camp italiano'and was relieved to lay my weary self to sleep.

fantastic view of mountians and vally on all sides and hiking (well running at one point) around to see glacier grey in the afternoon, were my my biggest highlights of the trek, a brilliant day.

The final day was really just a hike back to get my bus an easy, mostly flat 14kms. If i´d had more time i would have let my tent thaw out and repaired the hole made by a little bugger of a mouse that night.

All and all it was a stunning success, I had fantastic weather for the season and set a new benchmark for the most amazing landscape i'd ever seen. But ´torres del paine' was just the beginning the next few days of Glacier Perito Moreno and Fitz Roy park were still to come.
