This morning I went to the market just round the corner and bought my fruit and veg, some cheese and fresh spelt bread! Then I cycled round in the cold, and found the Rudolf Steiner School in Breda! I went back to the second hand shop, Emmaus, which mum had recommended to me where I bought a massive ancient lampshade and struggled at first on how I was to transport it back home by bike! A kind couple gave me a hand with strapping it to the back of my bike. It wasn't so embarrasing as I would have felt if I was in this situation in England. Here it seems the norm to be casualy cycling with massive unusual objects hanging off the back of one's bike. As an art student, I'm going to turn the lampshade into a dress for carnival and combine it to my course in theatre design. I've always wanted to make a dress from such a large lampshade so I took my opportunity as it was only 7 euro 50 cents with or without the electrics! I'm not going to think about what I'll do with it after...
Met the French and some new Avans students for drinks at Studio Dependance then moved to the Speeltuin for live music. It started off with a jam session where anyone could join, so a couple of the French got up on stage. Then the night kicked off with some amazing live jazz bands! Truely beautiful stuff, I wish my English friends could have all been there to boogy with me and share their musical talents!! From now on I don't want to be missing a single Tuesday night at the Speeltuin for the next three months!

Bloomen stall

Bloomen - bloomers???
Now that make me laugh. Doyou remember Guernsey grandma teasing me in the past with Bloomers? It is Bloemen. Een Bloem - veel bloemen! And to make it complicated: it is also flour, like tarwebloem is wheat flour and ofcourse flour sounds like flower, so we are back to the bloemen. Tulips perhaps? Double Dutch will do! love mum x
