Bon Dia! (Buenos Dias in Catalan)

I added a few photo's from the last few weeks, hope you enjoy.

I only have classes Monday through Thursday here, so it's already my weekend. Not exactly sure what's in store yet, but something exciting I'm sure. Last night Connor and I bought tickets to Dublin for an extra long weekend we have in March. He also got tickets to Amsterdam with his roommates for a different weekend in March, and my roommates and I are looking at going to Switzerland soon and getting a guided weekend trip to Morocco. The guided trip is very cheap and from what we've heard, it sounds like it would be best for us to go with a guide. It includes a camel ride! Hah.

It has 'cooled' off here the last few days - lots of people seem to be complaining, but 45 degrees F is still 85 degrees warmer than my last semester was... feels great to me!

Today in my spanish class we were reviewing useful things to say in restaurants and foods at the supermercado etc. Of course after we go over all of it Roberto, my professor, looks at

us and says "You know, it will never actually say lechuga for lettuce or salchicha for sausage, it will be written in Catalan in the stores." Speaking spanish here is helpful, but it isn't enough. Yesterday a man in a restaurant asked if I was a student here, I responded that yes I was and I was here studying spanish. He nodded, was quiet for a moment, and then scolded me for learning Spanish and not Catalan - while speaking Spanish of course. The Catalan nationalism here is very interesting.

There's always someone playing down in the metro stops, but this was the only time I've seen someone actually on the train playing. He was great.

Great views from the top - this is only a tiny portion of the panoramic view of the city from here, but you can see the unfinished Sagrada Familia rise above the rest of the city. Upon completion it will be much taller than it is now.

Impressed
Certainly enjoyed the recently posted pics. You're experiencing so much - I'm envious. Morocco, Ireland, Switzerland. You have to take me back to some of those places when we're there. Keep up the blog work; I'm looking forward to the next one already. Go experience it and be safe. Love pop

Great photos!
Hi Holly, It is so much fun to read about your experiences so far, and to see the photos. It's almost like being there! So are all of your room mates American students? Love you, Jocelyn

I'm already wishing I had your passport. And I'm really curious how you got the jersey of one of the most popular players of their, apparently beloved, futbol team?! xxoo

P.S.
I'm curious. So is the Catalan word for lettuce "enciam"? Just checking out of the translators online.
