The outlook from the Spaceship© is hardly panoramic, given the lack of room for manoeuvre. Diana and I lay squeezed up tight (not through passion!) on our backs looking through the rear-window above us and bemoaned another gloomy start of day. As this was a new camper, we were unaware that this was the effect of the heavily-tinted glass, and that the sound of people rushing by was them making for the beach rather than dashing for the loo in the rain, as had been the case yesterday.
When we finally emerged from the crypt we were dazzled by beautiful blue skies, a hot sun and hundreds of exotic birds chasing back and forth across the campsite. We have just spent a day and a half playing on the sand, and in the surf, of the beautiful and thinly-populated North Beach at Mylestom, just south of Coffs Harbour. It has been so hot, that it was Diana who called a time-out from the beach today and it has proved very hard to get William out of the water. Although she was somewhat reluctant at first, Emily soon became a surf-buddy too although the side-rips seemed determined to carry her back to Sydney. A barbecue of squid, prawns, kangaroo and crocodile kept our energy levels up and Emily had the wildlife encounter of the day by sharing her shower with a bright-green tree frog. I suspect that as we head on to our next campsite, in the bush in the mountains, that we might have to share more than just a shower, with more than just tree frogs … Will the Boots©Insect Repellent be up to the job?
