Mmm...yum!
..I'm not being rude, 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Sausage' was the delightful name of a dish served in one of the local restaurants in Miri...if you didn't fancy that you could also have 'Cheesy Wigglie Sausage', or perhaps 'Doggie Bolognese'...yum!

Once we'd dragged ourselves away from the most entertaining menu ever we had time to take a wander up Canada Hill to visit the Petroleum Museum (which is as exciting as it sounds), and see the lovely views over Miri and the South China Sea.

We also took a day trip to the Niah Caves which was fantastic. We trekked through the jungle to reach the 'Trader Caves', then to the large, main caves before reaching the 'Painted Caves' which promised wall sketches from thousands of years ago. To reach these, however, we had to walk through pitch black caves with our pathetic torches which would have been fine, only half way through - at the point of no return - Hans swung his torch to the floor and jumped back as a giant spider made its way towards my foot. completely faded...still worth the walk (perhaps not the spider!), and considering I'd faced my biggest fear to reach them I was hoping for something resembling the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

We were hoping to visit Gunung Mulu National Park but due to the torential rain (you have to fly there) and lack of accommodation we opted to visit Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei, on our way to Kota Kinabalu. So, the Sultan prepared for our arrival...
