Edit Blog Post

Wednesday was the night we were divvied into our real teams, but this came as a complete surprise to everyone.
Some PODs suspected because we never got an sort of schedule for the rest of the week and no staff would answer any questions about what we were doing. No one in my POD thought this was out of the ordinary because our leader was always late with schedules.

After dinner we were handed envelopes which we were not allowed to open and we all stood out in the big field and waited. When we opened the envelopes we found pieces of yarn and were told to stand in different areas depending on the color. When we did this they announced that we were standing in our new units!! (each unit has a couple different teams). Then we lined up alphabetically by first name- there were four Kristens!!!- and they gave us all a second envelope. In this we each had a puzzle piece. Some were paper, some cardboard etc depending on your team. When we found everyone else with similar pieces we assembled the puzzle and read a clue on the back which would lead us to our team leader.

Funny story, our TL had made us a sort of scavenger hunt to find her... But we misinterpreted our clue and went to the wrong room- but it ended up being the room at the end where our TL was waiting for us!! She was surprised to see us so soon and then when she realized what happened she made us go back and find our clues!!

At first I was pretty unsure because no one I knew was on my new team and like I said earlier, I loved my first pod. I didn't know how much I had in common with anyone on this new team, but then I found out there was another future elementary teacher, another psych major, and two other camp counselors.

Part of today's training was working with our team doing difficult/confusing tasks to get an idea of how well we work together and where everyone's strengths are. This really forced us to get to know each other better and the results were amazing. We laughed the whole time and basically had more fun than most other teams probably did with simple projects.

Last night I was really nervous and unsure about working with these people, but now I feel really lucky to be placed where I was and Im beyond excited to see what the next ten months will bring!

new team
Kristen, not surprised that your team mates are future teachers, camp counselors, etc. Those are the type of persons who would volunteer to do what you are doing. And I am not surprised that you have made the adjustment to a new team. That is who you are! God bless you, and thanks for the blog.
