What's the Craic? (What's going on?)

We experienced our first car bomb...seriously. It was 150 meters away from our bed and breakfast, it went off in Derry, the day before we arrived. The police and CSI people had cordoned off our street, and the bus driver went on the BBC radio stating we had no accomodations, and people all over, offered us places to stay. Luckily, because of the public pressure, the police let us in to our bed and breakfast. We are all fine and good, we were almost like little radio celebrities in Derry. When we were out, many people recognized us from the radio. For Shannons family, we met with Hugh, Wilma, Uncle William, and Isabelle. They were adorable cute, and hugged us when they left.

Before we got to Derry, we had a fantastic time in Dublin. We closed down the bar every night, even Sunday. It got to the point, the bartenders at Temple Bar knew our drinks before we even ordered them for the first time. We know now to stay away from leprechauns, after a few "interesting" experiences.

Belfast was filled with history, and we explored the protestant and catholic areas in a "black taxi tour". It was neat to see the living history. Lots to say about it, and not enough time now to type it.

We will be seeing you all in about a week. We are in Galway right now, heading to supper. We spent all our money, and will see you at home.

Wow!
I was getting worried 'cause you hadn't blogged for awhile but I thought the bombing days were over in northern Ireland. I loved Galway and the Connemara area. What a wonderful trip! I hope you have lots of pictures to share. See you soon, Laura
