Our final memories from this trip........ Well people, you thought we were finished... but since we are sitting for hours in an airport while you sleep in your beds, we thought we would write you our closing message. We achieved 10/13. - Driving in Scotland - Playing frogger in the streets of Cairo - Meeting new people - Eating many Magnum bars (Yes, Erin C. we ate a lot of them...Everyday, maybe even twice a day.) - Boys with accents -Spending money like there is no tomorrow... Sliante! Sadness is sweeping over us. Our love affair with Ireland is coming to an end. We have two more days in this stunning land. Our tour has been awesome. The people have been really great. They have been so great that we have become zombies because of the lack of sleep. We have been around the entire coast line. The scenery can not be described, truly amazing. We had some amazing days at the Blarney Castle and Kinsale. Our livers can not handle the Irish custom of drinking. Apparently, they don't discriminate on what day to drink... and as we were told, Sunday is a part of the week-end. The people are amazingly friendly, and outstandingly witty. Our tour guide, Joseph, is hilarious. Ohhh, and according to one American... He had Shannon figured out to ... read more

Car Bombs and Leperchauns

What's the Craic? (What's going on?) We experienced our first car bomb...seriously. It was 150 meters away from our bed and breakfast, it went off in Derry, the day before we arrived. The police and CSI people had cordoned off our street, and the bus driver went on the BBC radio stating we had no accomodations, and people all over, offered us places to stay. Luckily, because of the public pressure, the police let us in to our bed and breakfast. We are all fine and good, we were almost like little radio celebrities in Derry. When we were out, many people recognized us from the radio. For Shannons family, we met with Hugh, Wilma, Uncle William, and Isabelle. They were adorable cute, and hugged us when they left. Before we got to Derry, we had ... read more

Cheers from Edinburgh, Our driving adventure has almost come to an end...we still have to bring George back to the airport. He still remains fully intact. Shannon and I are exhausted, and had a hard time getting out of bed before noon today. A few days ago, in Pitlochry, we had an exhilerating white water rafting experience. We do feel bad for our tour guide because he had to look at us. Our greatest fears were realized, when we had to squeeze into wet suits in a public changeroom. We opted to change in the toilet instead...at the same time, which proved to be very ingenious, because it was a two man operation to put on the wet suits. After leaving the toilet, the Scot, laughed at us, and made a comment about how us Canadians ... read more

Let's first introduce you to the new man in our lives. His name is George Smasher the First. He comes from the Mercedes Benz family. His appearance is a lovely blue colour. Well here is the tally: 3 curbs 3 pylons and 1 debated upon gate (Jackie claims yes, Shannon claims no. Shannon believes that the pylon that she hit with dramatic force knocked down the gate.) Scotland's Worst Driver is....... Shannon, because Jackie hasn't driven yet! Let's say we have manipulated the streets quite easily. Okay, there were a few 'incidents', but that is because the roads are so damn narrow. My philosophy is rather to hit a curb, than another car. GPS has been our best friend. He has lead us to Loch Ness, where we searched for the Loch Ness Monster (on a ... read more

After our many days on the road, we are becoming rebels. Shannon refuses to look when crossing the street. She figures after her time in Cairo, how bad could it be. She was almost hit once. (Truth be told, who knows which way to look?) Our second act of rebellion was when we went to Stonehenge. We weren't allowed to eat on the bus, but we bought chocolates at Windsor Castle and ate them anyway! Dangerous stuff! Canada better look out for us when we return! Here we are lovin' our time in London! Mainly, because we don't have to travel on for awhile. The weather has been nice, but yesterday it was really sunny and we both got sunburnt. We made it through plus forty weather and a desert, but we get burnt in ... read more

Hot hot hot... We have finished our brief stay in Rome, and got out before we melted to death. There was a few times I was willing to hurl myself in front of a speeding Vespa to end it all (kidding) (but not really). We were literally drenched in sweat everyday...all day! Rome was ridiculously hot, and we had to shower at least twice a day. It was 40 + weather every day...way hotter than Cairo. On the first night we arrived, Shannon did a strip tease for the patrons of the restaurant below as she forgot to shut the blinds when she showered. We went to Vatican City and saw many important pieces of art and buildings. It turned out our guide couldn't take us due to a family emergency so he hooked us up ... read more

Bonjourno, We are officially in Rome, and finished with Cairo. It was rather hard to leave, we actually cried because we had such an awesome time. On our last night, we did a dinner cruise down the Nile. We enjoyed some traditional dancing and music. But, of course, some belly dancing. Our new tour guide, Ahmed, offered to take us downtown to walk the streets. He was very interested in spending time with two hot women. We went through the active streets where he took us to his most favourite Cafe. It was packed, packed with Egyptian men. They were almost sitting on each other to watch the Fifa Final game, Spain vs. Poland. It was a great atmosphere, especially when they all cheered as one. Jackie really loved the cockroach that climbed up to ... read more

Well, first of all, we would like to say that we miss all of you. Especially, the birthday people, Erin and Dad! I am sure I can find something in the street to bring back to you. And of course, Jackie too! We are absolutely depressed. It is our last day in Cairo, and with Medhat. We actually cried when we had to say goodbye. Shh, mom sorry... but, yes we went with a strange person, Medhat, secretly to go experience the "real" Egypt. He took us without pay, drove us around, took us shopping, and treated us to traditional Egyptian food. It was surprisingly good. We couldn't tell people because the company would get mad. We would be taking business away from them. For anyone who knows me, he took me to a jewelry ... read more

So you didn't think we'd make it here did ya? Neither did we after 25 hours of traveling and a brutal layover in Toronto. Don't worry we picked up our sheiks (kidding). We pyramided it up today rode a camel (quite the experience). We got on them (Shannon almost fell off screaming...does that surprise you?) We were only scammed three times so far...not too bad. Our tour guide Medhat is single and looking if we're interested. Erin????? Just a thought. He is giving us the rock star treatment, is really funny, and is making our experience really great. Shopping update: We have both found Aladdin lamps...we're waiting to rub it for a genie for when we really need him. Bragging, our hotel is GORGEOUS! We have a personal driver, a view of the Nile from our ... read more
