Bean Bags and Wine Tasting
This place was awesome!!!! So much fun. Peter Falke Winery, Stellenbosch Wine Festival A short flight and we arrived in Cape Town. Daddy decided not to stay in Capetown but instead in Stellenbosch, about 45 minutes away. Daddy is a big fan of wine, and this was one of the most famous places for it in all of South Africa, and our stay just so happened to be at the same time as the Stelenbosch Wine Festival.
We were picked up by the owner of the place we were staying...the Stellenbosch Lodge. I was really happy to know that she had 2 young children who were often at the lodge. We were staying here for 6 nights. Daddy had lots of stuff planned from here. Not only the wine festival, but we had a quarterfinal game in Cape Town, and we were going to see the Great White Sharks in Gansbaii (Both of these in a later blog).
On arrival, daddy had us go visit a winery called Thelema. They had a beautiful fire place where I relaxed and watched a movie while daddy tried some of their wine. He said it was really good. There were some incredible views. We then went out to dinner in Stellenbosch. It was a really
cute small town, great to walk in, and we had a very nice dinner.

The following day it was time to take part of the wine festival. Daddy promised me that there would be lots of events and fun things for kids, and he was right. A small bus would shuttle us around to different wineries on different routes. Daddy had picked out which ones he wanted to go to and had a plan for each day. Daddy also tried to buy some really good wine from 2005, my birth year, for either him to drink on my b-days or for me to drink in a few years when I am old enough. The first 2 of the day were daddy's favorite of the trip.....Waterford and De Trafford. At both, daddy met the winemakers and said there wine was awesome. I had a blast playing around the fountain at Waterford and did some great drawings at De Trafford. While those were daddy's favorite, the next was MY favorite winery, Middelvei. It was basically a farm. I mad friends with the boy who was the owner's son and he took me all
over the farm and showed me the animals, played soccer with me and even taught me how to golf. It was so much fun that I did not want to leave, but it was time to make it to one more winery, Overgaauw, where I had a lot of fun serving daddy and playing with other people. It was a great day, but time to catch the last shuttle back.
Day 2, and another day of "wine tasting". We started at Warwick which had a huge grassy area for me to run around and play with daddy, then Kanonkop and Neil Ellis. At one winery we bumped into one of my favorite dudes that I met in Johannesburg, Paul. We ended the day at the "bottlery" which had lots of activities for kids, wine tasting from wineries in the area for daddy, and then a nice place for us to watch Brasil v Holland. Daddy and I were all dressed up the entire day in our Brasil outfits/tatoos. The game started great with an early goal by Brasil.....However, they stopped playing and lost 2-1. Daddy and I were bummed. Now all 3 of our teams were out. We still

I met Paul at Purple Palms Hostel in Johannesburg and became instant friends. He is really cool ....and tall. had one more game to go to and we were still having tons of fun, so we were not too sad. We then went back to the hotel and had some great spicy Thai food in a small restaurant by our hotel.

The next day we went to Cape Town to check it out and go to the Argentina v Germany quarterfinal, but will cover that in another blog, but the following day was our 3rd day of the wine festival. We started at Ken Forrester, which was kinda boring, then went to a small winery that was 3 botique wineries all in one. I had so much fun there playing with the winemakers dogs. We then went to 96 winery road, which had lots of wine to taste for daddy while I made sand art with a nice lady and played on their jumping castle. We then went to Eikendal to meet our Lebanese friends that we had met in Johannusburg. We had a great lunch with them (ostrich burger for me) and then I played with some new friends. The next winery, Peter Falke, I had sooo much fun. They had these giant
bean bags and giant cork screws. I had a blast jumping on the bean bags and playing with daddy. We ended up at Uva Mira which had incredible views. I decided to do an inteview there with daddy.
The next day we went to see the Great White Sharks, one of the best experiences of the whole trip, but for another blog.
We had a great 6 days in Stellenbosch. We got really lucky with the weather, as most people said it was rainy all the time during this period, but we did not see any rain, and barely any clouds. I was really sad we were going to leave South Africa. We had such an incredible time and so many great memories, but the trip was not over yet, as we still had 4 nights in Greece before going home.
