All I know is that history repeats itself and people are going to want to experience the world. But I know then they are going to have a better appreciation for what is here in Maine.

Point 1 Rangeley State Park Point 2 Grafton Notch Point 3 Screw Auger Falls Point 4 Sebago Lake SP Point 5 Rachel Carson NWR It was a long drive to Maine, with continuous warnings about Moose Crashes. We spotted a female moose at a pond and another male laying quite dead on the road… no sign of the vehicle responsible, but it couldn’t be good for the auto either.
Rangley Lake SP is home for tonight. There is a lovely lake with lots of swimming, boating and fishing.
In this area of Maine there are few “good” roads, so we drove a rather circuitous route to Grafton SP. Our first stop was Screw Auger Falls…granite rock scoured by meltaway glaciers. Just down the road is Moose Cave…no a moose does not live in the cave, but an unlucky moose fell into a gorge, carved during the last Ice Age. It involved a nice walk around the rushing water and rocks.
Continuing our drive south we spent the night at Sebago Lake SP, the biggest SP in Maine. We are right on the lake but the weather is very overcast and humid. The folks of Maine seem oblivious to weather and go right into the water. I guess if
one survives a Maine winter…summer is always welcome.
Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1966 in cooperation with the State of Maine to protect valuable salt marshes and estuaries for migratory birds. We walked along the self-guided trail.
At this point we re-entered NH, to visit the beach. Yes NH has a small area on coast and we visited Hampton Beach SP right on the beach. We enjoyed a lobster/seafood dinner. The temp are going up, up, up.
After a stop at Robert Frost’s homestead we continued onto MA.

Love the waterfall! Nice part of the country. We are putting together plans for New Zealand next year.
