Bequia Day 6, June 8,2010

Greetings from Bequia!

Today David and I started our day with another photo shoot assignment at the Villa, Helianthus. Helianthus is the Latin term for "sunflower." We had a great time shooting photos and video of the inside, outside views, pool and garden.

Bequia is somewhat hilly and the villas we visited Sunday and the Helianthus today, require a four-wheel drive and then you still may need to park and hike the rest of the way. So, we decided to take the company car, the Landrover, and slowly wind our way up to the top of the hill. I have named this faithful transportation servant, Bella. (Which has a nicer ring to it than David's choice of "Rover.") Now Bella has been a very good vehicle, but we believe she is trying to send the message that her days are quickly coming to an end. Bella has started her pre-retirement process by overheating. So, one must always carry 3-4 good size bottles of water when taking Bella for a spin.

After winding slowly back down the hill, we headed back to the house to download pictures and grab a quick lunch. After 2 hours of working, we decided to take a late afternoon hike to Princess Margaret Beach. We had the beach to ourselves except for one guy playing on the beach with his soccer ball and his fearless border terrier. It was great fun to watch this dog charge into the water to find and fetch anything that moved. I decided to practice my swim strokes after coming to the conclusion that between the two (the dog and I), the dog was the better swimmer.

We ended our day with dinner at Tommy Cantina's. With our table only 4 feet away from the ocean, overlooking the harbor and the boats, listening to the wind in the mango and coconut trees, we both agreed that this was another great day in Sweet, Sweet, Bequia.
