White House Well David, I was really interested in buying the White Houe until I clicked on the picture an noticed that they had the sunbrella up on the covered patio. What's up with that. I ain't buying now.
Mike
So....how much is the "White House" going for?:-) Looks beautiful! Sounds like you're having a wonderful time. Nothing too new around here. There was lots of flooding in OKC and some here in Shawnee on Monday. Rita and I were out riding yesterday and the Econtuchka bridge had been washed out!! A 4 foot opening in the bridge went completely across. You could see the river rushing underneath. Yikes! We had to turn around and ride a little farther than planned. I did Route 66 Olympic distance in El Reno a week and a half ago. It went well. I had my best swim ever - 29:57. I was pretty excited about that. It was a little windy on the ride and HOT on the run but that's Oklahoma for you!! Enjoying the blogs. How long are you staying in Bequia this time?
David - Again I'm so jealous. My only hope now is that you will return ready to start planning a trip, with you as guide, so that the rest of us can enjoy you island!
Cocoa Oh man...you should have let Cocoa in to visit for a while. The ladies in the picture look like they would be fun to be friends with.
I think the native people are going to miss you as much as you miss them. Have a safe trip home.
Summer intern on "Friendship Rose" Dave, it sounds to me like you could probably spend time in Bequia each summer and earn your keep while there. lol Don't get to liking it too well on the boat. We miss you @ Paul's and need you back real soon. See you this week-end. Loretta
end of the trip Almost time to come back to the real world, huh? That's gotta stink.
Hey try to get that coconut cookie recipe so you can make some for the family. And the "crew" t-shirt is quite a momento for ya.
That's pretty cool!
Sounds like a great day! What a wonderful day, David! I could just see you being the perfect host/guide/waiter for those on the ship!
Come home!!! Do not let that tour company lure you into a permanent job!! Just because you already got the t-shirt does not mean that you have to work for them!!
Resist temptation! Come back to us!! We miss you.
Sent with a prayer for your safe return, Cheryl
Looks like your having quite a time there, any thoughts of residing permanenetly, If its as nice as it sounds that has to have rattled through your head some. Anyway, I've just got back to a normal schedule and it does'nt seem that your missing much here in not-so-tropical Shawnee. The part of Thailand we came from was absolutely gorgeous and very tropical as well, thanks for your prayers, we had a great trip and we'll see you back stateside soon.
shannon,
Surprisingly, I haven't done any recreational diving yet. I've done a lot of snorkeling and that seems to keep me satisfied. To get here I flew from Dallas to San Juan. Spent the night. Then flew to St Vincent. Caught the ferry there to Bequia. Am doing it all in reverse on Thursday to come home.
Gary told me you had left for your trip so I googled your name and found your blog. The island looks fantastic and I really like your pictures. Have you gotten to do any recreational diving? I read in one of my Caribbean magazines about Tobago. I have enjoyed reading about your adventures. I may have missed it but where did you get your supplies and what route did you take to get to the island?
17 days Dear David,
Maybe 17 days is the magic number. Once I was gone from my family on an overseas trip for 17 days, and I was REALLY ready to get home. At least this way you know that you will have seen just about everything!
Your photographs are gorgeous!
I'm glad that you earned your passage by diving--that was neat.
Have fun! Stay safe! Sent with a prayer and a hug, Cheryl
Back to work David, Mon,
I'm glad to hear that you finally miss us. And it's about time you got back to work like the rest of us. Keep the pictures coming. When does your flight arrive back? Give us those details about re-entering the real world when you can stand to think about it.
Love you lots and miss you more,
Diana
Hiking With the Bushman Have you met Brent Goodin yet? He is known as the Bushman of Bequia. He knows the island better than anyone and is a blast to hike with. My favorite hike with Brent is to the top of Bequia - 881 ft with an absolutely amazing view of Admiralty Bay. His number is 784-495-2524. Tell him Dave says hi. Also, Brother King feeds the turtles every Tuesday @ 7:30am. If you call him and ask he will let you feed and clean the turtles - its actually very fun. Great blog! Makes me wish I was back at our house.
Every man comes to a point in his life where he craves an adventure. Some climb Everest, or make a cross country journey, or sail around the world. For me my "Island Adventure" begins July 29th when I travel to the island of Bequia for 24 days.
The first question out of everyone's mouth when they here about my adventure is: "Why Bequia and where is it?"
Bequia (pronounced Beck-way) is located in the far southern part of the Caribbean almost to Venezuela. It's part of the island state of St Vincent and the Grenadines which is an independent part of the British Commonwealth. The islan... full info
