at south beach by the promenade Well seeing as we're in america, it makes sense that for spring break, we had to go to the home of spring break - South Beach. We flew down on the saturday after uni finished (after an incredible day's snowboarding in the trees, probably the best day of the season i reckon - over 2 foot of snow in the week prior, so there was some awesome waist deep powder in some of the glades).
When we got to fort lauderdale airport, my luggage didn't turn up and i had to wait until the following afternoon to get it, but no compensation from the airline.
When we arrived the place was right on the beach and so we went for a midnight swim. The water was really warm, and it was great to spend some time in boardies and pluggers.
There were 18 of us internationals in 3 rooms, and it was a really fun week. On the sunday, we spent the day at the beach, and im incredibly embarrassed to admit that tom and i both got sunburnt. Although the florida sun has nothing on Perth, 3 months in Burlington's sub-zero winter leaves you with not

with the boys in downtown miami even the remnants of a tan and a lot less protection from the sun. We went out downtown but everywhere had something like a $20 cover so we ended up at an irish pub (although even there the beers were $8 each). We ended up getting in to a club for free and it was ok although not really our scene or music.
Monday night we went to a place called Mansion, which was massive and i can see how it would be cool, but not really worth the $20 in my opinion.
Tuesday i went downtown with the boys, and walked around. We went on a boat and saw all these massive houses including Vanilla ice, Puff Daddy, and Shaq's places, and all the artificial islands. It was nice just to be on a boat in the warmth again.
Wednesday we went to the keys, and Tom and Melissa went scuba diving, so i went with everyone else and drove around for a bit, then went swimming.
Thursday Tom, Melissa, Mirva and I went to the Everglades and spent the day walking around in the swamps and forests, which was really

the first night in south beach. we'd just got off the plane nice, then went canoeing with the alligators. It was incredible how much wildlife there was everywhere. Absolutely worth the $80 each for the guided day-long trip and probably the highlight of florida. That night we went to a party at "senor frogs", a club downtown. There was a bubble machine in a tree and so there was a bit of dancing in the bubbles. Got home at about 4am and had to be up at 5 to go to the airport to new york.
Friday- Struggle Town. Got to a hostel and slept from 4pm till late the next morning, making up for not sleeping the night before.
