To the west of Leon is where the indigenous people lived while the Spanish started Leon. I really liked this mural depicting their lives.
Hi everyone,

Today was my last full day in Leon and I am nearly over my cold. I still have a little sore throat on the right side only, but am otherwise feeling good. And that is a great thing because Rich arrives tomorrow night!

I will pack up my things and hang out here at the hotel until the last minute then take the bus to Managua and then a cab to the airport. The father of the family I stayed with in December will be picking us up there and taking us to La Mariposa, a language school and Ecolodge. I am looking forward to seeing Gonzolo and hopefully his family again. We had a joke going that he was my Papa in Nicaragua, but his birthday is May 15, 1965 which is only 3 days before mine! I brought him a headlamp for his birthday.

I plan to get to the airport well before dark, since Managua is not a place to be milling around in at that time. There are lots of cafes and a few shops in the airport and I plan on pricing things so that I can get a good deal

In the same area where I was waiting for the bus was another mural of indigenous life.
when we go back to the tourist places near Granada again.

I found some tranquil places for Rich and I to go for us to do some kayaking and him some fishing. He has made some sort of PVC holder for his flyrod so that he can bring his own equipment and cast some while I read and relax in the places we stay.

Today I headed by bus to the west of Leon to the beaches. There are two beaches, Peneloya and Penitas. I went to Penitas because the surf there is not so rough and checked out some hostels that I would like to visit with Rich. I struck up a conversation with a couple. She works at one hostel and he works as a fishing guide in the area of the national park nearby. Hopefully we can get togeter later and he can take Rich out for some fishing.

Ok, all for now. I want to get to bed early because I have a lot of packing and organizing tomorrow.

Love,
Dawn

If a casita is available, Rich and I may get to stay here if we come back to Penitas to fish!

Rich
Rich should be on the plane from Tampa to Miami now. Then he has a 3 hour layover in Miami and will fly into Managua at 7+30. Usually there is an hour wait to get through customs and my friend will take us to the next hotel. Rich has been sending texts to my email account and the owner of the hotel where I am staying is letting me stay a little later today so I don´t have to wait in the airport for hours and hours. I can´t wait to see him!!!!!! I hope the bellydancers feel less pressure now that the recital is over. Now it is time to buy new outfits!!!!!! Love, Dawn
