Great pictures; worth waiting for
Finished Mistletoe Marketplace last night. 2 concerts completed and 1 to go on the 21st. Dress for this one red and green, Medieval costumes for first one of Christmas season and black and white for the middle one. I sent your blog to Joanne Rankin because she asked what were you doing in Nicaragua. I guess I mentioned it in note on her Christmas card.

Thanks Diane!
I am really glad to be back, but am not enthused with all the work I left behind. Where did all these weeds come from? Thanks for all your comments during my trip. Dawn

The Eyeball
The lens on the cooked fish make the eye look white which I didn´t like. So, I just stuck my finger into it and pulled it out and placed it to the side. Rich says one should scavenge the head and said that there is always good meat at the back of the head and sometimes in the cheek. It was really tasty, but I can understand your discomfort, but was too hungry to worry about it personally. Dawn

whole fish
When I was served a whole fish in St Martin, I could not eat with those eyes looking at me !! The waitress offered to take it back to the kitchen and take the head off. :-)

Mangos
The white on the dog that you saw was the secondary yeast infection he has on his hairless body. He is the sweetest thing, though, but no one wants to touch him or be near him. I stopped at the vet in the town of Chinandega (the next biggest city near the beach) and ordered all the drugs that I thought the dog would need. I spoke with the vet´s wife who is a wonderful lady and told her I would consult with her husband by supplying any educational info he might need on treating these conditions. Apparently, he deals in mostly large animals and she seemed interested in me coming to help with the small animals. So we exchanged email addresses, so we will see. Dawn

Rich´s Big 50
We had been talking and I had been thinking of Rico´s birthday for several days before he got here but on the actual day we traveled such a long distance on so many vehicles that I forgot. But I bought him a nice dinner on Jiquilillo Beach. The way to spot the ¨restaurant¨ while walking the beach is look for the large plastic awning. And that is what everyone calls her restaurant -- the place with the white plastic awning. It was good though, but they commented that neither of us could finish the 3 cups of gallo pinto (beans and rice) they served us. Dawn

Oh my God!
Are the chickens sitting on the duck eggs? Cause those ducks were never patient enough to sit on their own eggs. What book are you reading? I really miss easy access to books here. The hostels do often have some interesting ones, but many I have already read. We need to rig up a sexy pirate/bellydance outfit for Laura Lee. She could dance for her fellow deck hands. I hope to see her before she leaves. We will be back next week and I keep thinking of the Sauce Boss. Thanks for chiming in with your comments. Dawn

Always a vet
Dawn, I hope Mangos gets better, when I first glanced at the picture I thought he might be part catahoula until I got a closer look. Did you bring any surgical tools to help Curly with his unaltered issue? PCL

Glad you found the dog ok. Too bad you dont have a sharp little knife with you to remedy that aggresiveness . ha ha snip snip Hope Rico finds his fish. Will you eat them for dinner ? Things are good here . I just saw Cathy , Paulette and Lora Lee at book club. Lora Lee leaves Tues for 3 weeks as a deck hand on LynBlad ships !! She is excited. Take care, You may be a mom when you get home. (baby ducks !!) Diane

touching base
Hey there, glad to hear Rich made it safe and sound. I can imagine the intellectual compare and contrast discussion next time he and Chris are fishing about the creative places they "compost". I am sure you will have a good time showing him places you have aready been and introducing him to the people you now know. Enjoy, PCL

Turtle toes
That looks like a more comfortable place, but I don't think I would go near those turtles with open toed shoes! It has never crossed my mind to feed chicken to a turtle! I am learning from here. Feel better.

wow
That would make me nervous. Apparently you made it to your destination to do the update, but it looks pretty messy. PCL

Catching up
Hey there, hate to hear you aren't feeling well. It is a little rough to be sick away from home. Maybe you should have used the Seal a Meal to pack some of your own snacks for your trip. Hang in there, I have to adventure vicariously through you. Love, PCL

Rich
Rich should be on the plane from Tampa to Miami now. Then he has a 3 hour layover in Miami and will fly into Managua at 7+30. Usually there is an hour wait to get through customs and my friend will take us to the next hotel. Rich has been sending texts to my email account and the owner of the hotel where I am staying is letting me stay a little later today so I don´t have to wait in the airport for hours and hours. I can´t wait to see him!!!!!! I hope the bellydancers feel less pressure now that the recital is over. Now it is time to buy new outfits!!!!!! Love, Dawn

Hi Wendy!
Thanks for your nice message. I also love that mantela which the propietor has placed on the common area dining room. I love it so much that i have been looking for one to take home to place on my own table. It really is bright and cheerful and makes the table look extra special! Dawn

Can´t Wait to Try a Dose on You!
I´m all ready to mix up a dose or two for you. I haven´t even opened the bottle. I will have to guard my bags carefully so that the bottle doesn´t get broken. That rum by the way was the most expensive from the store. It is aged 7 years and I think there are even more expensive ones. I chose the amber one and not the clear, because it has more sugar. I was looking for the little shot bottles because I thought I could pack easier but couldn´t find them. That bottle cost me $5 at the supermercado.

The guys in the band
Wow, sorry I missed the show! Who´s the guy in between Dudley and Dave? I kept waiting for the belly dancers to come across the floor in all their splendor and glory. Dawn

Estadio Roberto Clemente

Hi Dawn, Thanks for all the great photos. I'm glad you are better. What a cute hotel, but 20$ a night is more than I can afford !!! Has Rich made it there yet? Hope you both have a good time. Oh, if you want to see some of the entertainment that was at Dave and Terri's look up " Dudley Rocks Floral City" on youtube! Diane

Oh dear...
I hope your stomach recovers quickly. I remember drinking a lot of penafiel grapefruit soda when I got sick in Honduras so maybe there is something similar there. Take care and "e" you soon!
