Packed to the 9's Day 25
Its 10am the truck is packed and we are off the Fraser Island, and upon arriving at the sandy beach I realize this might not be to easy as the sand was about 6-10 inches deep and the truck was having a tough time chewing its was through, we did enjoy a nice 10 minute ferry ride across and arrived to be driving on hard pack sand. Yes! 2wd here we go. We decide to head to small camp on the west side of the island out of the wind, Ungowa, big mistake… it was us and a group of school kids. So basically they kept to themselves and so did we, although the head teacher was super nice and realized we didn’t have enough ice for our beer and donated a huge slab of ice for us to use, after watching us use cooler sand to burry the beer in a sad attempt to cool it off. WOOT WOOT cold beer. We looked around on the beach for a bit and noticed that there were a ton of sand crabs rolling neat little balls. It did get dark early, around 5:30-6 ish and as bad as it

Away we go sounds we were so bored we were in bed by 7:30 but not after a few star photos, and a great meal cooked by Jackie. We did have a dingo sniffing around our tent for about an hour then he left due to no food being left out, good job everyone!!
Day 26
Let’s get outta here… We need to socialize with others. After a solid 3-4 hours of slow going down the trails we finally get out onto the hard pack sand again and make our way to happy valley to make a phone call to change my reservations for the camp sites. After a painful 35 minute phone call all is good and we are off the Dundara for 3 nights of camping to finish the trip. We stop at the pumps and cringe… 1.80 a litre here… ouch 40 cents more than main land. We push on and arrive at camp around 3pm and setup camp, this time with tarps so the rain doesn’t get us wet. At around 8pm we find ourselves playing a drinking game with a few other backpackers… wow… that got out of hand quick… I don’t remember much after
